The Meat Poll.....hehe
The Boring Stuff About Meat
In modern English usage, meat most often refers to animal tissue used as food, mostly skeletal muscle and associated fat, but it may also refer to organs, including lungs, livers, skin, brains, bone marrow, kidneys, and a variety of other internal organs as well as blood. The word meat is also used by the meat packing and butchering industry in a more restrictive sense?the flesh of mammalian species (pigs, cattle, etc.) raised and butchered for human consumption, to the exclusion of fish, poultry, and eggs. Eggs and seafood are rarely referred to as meat even though they consist of animal tissue. Animals that consume only, or mostly animals are called carnivores.
Through most of human history, individual families of humans hunted, raised, and slaughtered animals for their meat, and later, as civilizations developed, priests and temple assistants performed the functions of slaughtering and butchering animals for food in animal sacrifice. Today, in most industrialized nations, a meat packing industry slaughters, processes, and distributes meat for human consumption.

How To Cook A Standing Rib Roast
1. Set your roast out to get it to room temperature.
(I'm doing this as I'm writing so it will look like step-by-step instructions but in reality this is taking me hours. I want to make sure it's perfect before I publish. I will tell you if it doesn't and what you can do to make it better.) Couple of hours should do.
2. Preheat oven to 375 degrees
3. Place Roast rib side down (duh) in a baking dish capable of catching any drippings.
4. Set timer for one whole hour. When the timer goes off turn the oven off. Set the timer again for about 3 hours. Don't touch the oven. Leave it alone. Don't let anyone else touch the oven. Please trust me on this one. Do not open oven door!!! Please.
5. After 3 hours turn the oven back on to 375 and bake for another 35 minutes.
6. Take it out of the oven and let it sit for about 15 minutes.
7. Eat. It's absolutely perfect!
I've gotta give Paula Deen credit for this method. I figured anything she recommended would be spot on and it definitely is!
Steaks and Where They Come From
A steak (from Old Norse steik, "roast") is a slice of meat, typically beef. Most steaks are cut perpendicular to the muscle fibres, improving the perceived tenderness of the meat. In North America, steaks are typically served grilled, though they are also often pan-fried. The more tender cuts from the loin and rib are cooked quickly, using dry heat, and served whole. Less tender cuts from the chuck or round are cooked with moist heat or are mechanically tenderized. The more tender steaks have a premium price and perception; the idea of eating steak signifies relative wealth.
Meat Gadgets and Books that I recommend
Deni 3200 Professional Stainless-Steel Meat Grinder
Don't let the reviews fool you. Grinders can be a great kitchen gadget if you know how to take care of them. A couple of the reviews were obviously from people who did not read the directions before using. It's always important to read the instructions so you can avoid unnecessary problems with your equipment. I would highly recommend people (with enough space) to get a grinder for themselves. It's the only real way to know for sure what is going in your ground meat and sausages!
