Speech by bride's father

The bride's father is normally called upon by the best man to propose a toast of health and happiness to the bride and bridegroom. He would normally welcome the groom's parents, relatives of both families and guests and welcome the groom to his family and say a few words about his daughter.

Best man's speech

The best man's job is to respond to the the groom's toast on behalf of the bridesmaids, he should make his speech light hearted and fun. Because his speech is the high point of the reception, very often the best man is selected based on his ability to deliver his speech with humour and interest.

Bridegroom's speech

The bridegroom speaks on behalf of himself and his bride and uses this opportunity to thank his parents. He will also on behalf of his wife and himself thank all those present for their gifts. He If there are close members of the family who could not attend the wedding because of illness, he should wish a speedy recovery.

The bridegroom will thank the bridesmaids for a job well done.

Bride's speech

Very often, a bride is also called upon to say a few words. This is especially if someone close to her could not be present. She may also like to express her feelings about her entourage, the day and her new husband.
