Alma Wad at glance

On some rainy days my parents used to entertain us by slide show tales .I remember how much I was fascinated by the wonderful colors of those projected pictures .That was the era of the black and white TV .Besides wherever I looked - I saw beautiful mountains. In the centre of the town there was a lake - with an old water-mill. The underground caves were wonderful -and on its lake we were rowing with my father. I saw colors there- shades of blue that I have never seen anywhere else. I was surrounded by beauty and magic a great forest near us, a stream behind the blocks, a famous lake -Balaton- just a stone s throw from there. I had to leave my paradise when I was eight In our new home there were no mountains - no streams , no forest .,no underground caves with lakes . I felt very much lost- I became a dreamy child who escapes to her fantasy from the reality. I read a lot - and soon I started to write my own stories and drawing my own pictures. Many people had encouraged me- when it was about writing -but no praises for my drawings. As a result I wrote lots of articles read by millions of people - but I gave up painting for some fifteen years I did not draw or paint anything. When I started again it was for my interest in psychology - by the wish to understand better my inner self. It gave me so much joy that art became part of my daily routine. I love very much the Art- Nouveau style - and the famous Zsolnay - china designer family. I am also touched by another Hungarian artist Csontvary - and his painted visions. I have been living in Qatar for some five years now following my husband here .

The Highest Peak that Alma Wad reached

1,894 metres (6,214 ft) Mount Giewont ,Tatras , Poland

It was more than twenty years ago that Alma Wad spent her summer holiday in Poland . It was a nice time in Zakopane area - they were hiking there with her brother . Going up the Giewont was just a sudden idea and she was not well prepared for the hike . Luckily there was a group of young Poles who noticed that and they shared everything with her what they could . Experience , water , sandwiches . Thus it was emotionally a great experience . Finding herself suddenly surrounded by people who care about her. She is still very grateful for them ...

The British presence in South Asia .The long history of India, and the real place of the British in it .Much of the novel is written in the form of interviews and reports of conversations and research from the point of view of a narrator. Other portions are in the form of letters from one character to another or entries in their diaries. Still others take the form of reports from an omniscient observer.

Language Learning

Alma Wad started to learn languages at the age of 11 .It was Russian .There was no choice .She lived in a country under Soviet occupation .After all she loved it .Later at secondary school she was allowed to take up one more foreign language .She opted for French then .Then in her twenties she needed to learn English to get better salary .Then there was another reason as well ..The guy who later married her did not speak much Hungarian .:)

The latest book Alma Wad recommends

Slaughter House Five by Kurt Vonnegut

Kurt Vonnegut was one of the few survivor of Dresden bombing in 1945 February .This horrific event is not well known and still taboo to talk about what really happened .Kurt was an American soldier prisoner of war .Nobody can accuse him of antisemitism .Despite the tragic event the book is easy reading with humor and humanism .
We will learn what happened but why did it happen is still an unanswered question .
