How to Make Aloe Vera Cream at Home

As you might already know, there are a lot of health benefits related to the use of Aloe Vera in all shapes and forms.

Probably the easiest way to use Aloe Vera is straight from the plant in the form of Aloe Vera gel or make an Aloe Vera cream yourself to apply to your skin.

Preparation to Make Aloe Vera Cream

In order to make Aloe Vera cream at home, you will have to have access to Aloe Vera gel. If you grow your own Aloe plants this part is easy, you just cut off a leaf of your plant, give it a quick rinse and dry it.

Once you have the necessary leaves prepared for use, you can cut open the leaves with the use of a sharp knife. I always make sure to cut off first the sharp points of the leaves and the split them open.

Now that you have to half parts, you can easily scrape off the Aloe Vera gel and just collect it in a clean and dry bowl and finish this with all the leaves you took off your Aloe Vera plant.

Now that you have the Aloe Vera gel, there are a few things you can do. You can either use the gel as is and apply it to your skin, or maybe even drink it, but you can also use the gel to make a nice Aloe Vera cream for different purposes.

Fresh Aloe Vera Cream

A really soothing Aloe Vera Skin cream is made with 1 part Aloe Vera gel and 1 part freshly pealed cucumber. Just put these two ingredients in a mixer and blend till smooth. This mixture makes for a very fresh, soothing night cream for any skin type to be used on a daily base.

The only downfall to this cream is that you can only keep it for a few days in the fridge, so if you love this cream better prepare to make it a few times a week.

Buying Aloe Vera Cream

Another way to use Aloe Vera cream is of course to buy it already made. The advantage of buying Aloe Vera cream is that you can keep it on the shelve a lot longer than the homemade version, however this is due to additives that might not always be 100% natural.

Apart from that, you will never know the exact concentration of Aloe Vera in the cream so there might actually only be a very low percentage of Aloe in there.

Home Made Aloe Vera Cream

You can also make an Aloe Vera cream with a longer shelf life, buy mixing a natural carrier oil or cocoa butter, with a few tablespoons of bee-wax, Aloe Vera juice retracted from your Aloe Vera plant, and a few drops of essential oils to your likings.

You first need to melt the beeswax Au Bain Marie and once it is melted you take it off of the heat, then blend in the other ingredients to your likings in a slow matter, except for the essential oils. Keep stirring the mixture and adding the ingredients until you notice it begins to harden. Once the Aloe Vera cream is prepared it will be a thick lush cream ready for use.

Once you reach this stage you can blend in the essential oils you choose for your purpose by stirring them into the cream, without overdoing it.

Now that you have finished your Aloe Vera cream you can put it in a jar and refrigerate it so that you can use it for a longer period of time.

Aloe Vera Cream and Essential Oils

The benefits of Aloe Vera cream are the same as any Aloe Vera product in general. However if you do decide to make your own Aloe Vera cream at home, you might as well add a few drops of essential oil in order to make your Aloe Vera cream even more effective.

A few drops of lavender will have soothing and healing properties, while a few drops of Eucalyptus can be uplifting and energizing. Just make sure you check the essential oils before adding them to your Aloe Vera cream to ensure the properties it has, seeing that some might be the exact opposite of what you would like to achieve.
