Welcome To My Aloe Vera World

This lens features the world's favorite natural healing supplement Aloe Vera, also referred to as the "first-aid plant". I'll be providing a brief history of its origin and uses and will then introduce you to a multi-billion company who achieved excellence in providing quality aloe vera products worldwide. My subsequent lenses will then focus on providing descriptions of the range of aloe vera products available and how these can help you achieve better health and prosperity.

I hope you find my lenses useful .

Origination of Aloe Vera

A brief history

Aloe vera is considered by many to be a member of the cactus family. In reality, it is a member of the lily family. It flourishes in warm and dry climates, and to many people it looks like a cactus with fleshy thorny leaves. There are over 200 species of the aloe plant, but only one true Aloe Vera. Only the authentic Aloe Vera provides the potent therapeutic effects which nature has built in it.

There are around 400 species of Aloe, but it is the Aloe Barbadensis Miller (Aloe Vera or "true aloe") plant which has been of most use to mankind because of the medicinal properties it displays.

For over 3,500 years, tales of "healing Aloe Vera" plants have been handed down through centuries by word of mouth. Based purely on its natural healing characteristics, aloe vera is also referred to as the First Aid Plant, Wand of Heaven, Silent Healer, and Miracle Plant.

Aloe Vera has a bitter taste which can be unpleasant in the raw state. It is possible to get used to the taste of plain Aloe Vera gel, but if you can't the addition of some fruit juice helps to make it more palatable.

There is much confusion between Aloe Vera Gel and Aloe Vera Juice with the two often being thought synonymous. The term Gel refers to the inner leaf only, whereas Juice refers to "Aloe Latex" a bitter substance found just under the skin of the leaf.

Aloe Vera Uses

Here are just a few examples

While it is hard to identify who actually discovered the uses and benefits of Aloe Vera, reports suggest the first documented use can be found from the ancient Egyptians and was grown by King Solomon.

The Egyptian Queens, Nefertiti and Cleopatra, bathed in the juice of the Aloe Vera plant to help their skin remain beautiful and youthful and Cleopatra also drank the juice of the Aloe Vera plant daily for her health.

Legend also suggests that Alexander the Great conquered the island of Socotra in the Indian Ocean to secure supplies of Aloes to treat the battle wounds of his soldiers.

It was also used to great effect by Greek and Roman physicians. Researchers have found that both the ancient Chinese and Indian used Aloe Vera.

Today in Japan, Aloe Vera is commonly used as an ingredient in commercially available yogurt. There are also many companies which produce Aloe Vera beverages.

In the Philippines it is used with milk for kidney infections.

People in Tamil Nadu, a state of India, often prepare a curry using Aloe Vera which is taken together with Indian bread (naan bread) or rice.

Aloe Vera has been especially helpful of patients with severe and various skin diseases. It acts as a rejuvenating action. It acts as a moisturizer and hydrates the skin. After being absorbed into the skin, it stimulates the fibroblasts cells and causes them to regenerate themselves faster. It's the cells that that produce the collagen and elastin so the skin will get smoother and look younger.

Because Aloe Vera is natural, it works gently within the intestinal tract to help break down food residues that have become impacted and help clean out the bowel. When the bowel is cleansed out, it greatly reduces bloating, discomfort, and helps ease stress, which only leads to more attacks of irritable bowel syndrome.

Aloe Vera Myth or Medicine?
Should anyone have told me that within three years of my meeting with a mother, whose son's eczema had totally cleared with an Aloe Vera and Bee Propolis cream, that I would be researching its medicinal uses full time, I would have laughed. But it happened. That meeting was to totally change my medical perspective and, in fact, to change my life.

Creation of Aloe Vera Products

An introduction to Forever Living Products

Forever Living Products was incorporated in America in 1978 by Rex Maughan, President and Chairman of the Board.

Maughan stumbled upon a group of doctors in Dallas who had developed a method of stabilizing and storing the highly perishable aloe gel, which they used in a sunburn lotion. The Dallas group, Aloe Vera of America, had been trying to sell its product in health food stores with little success. Maughan believed that the products would benefit from the direct selling method, which relies heavily on demonstrations, testimonials, and word-of-mouth sales.

Maughan soon realized that only a limited supply of Aloe Vera existed in the country. Therefore, to assure the company and its distributors a plentiful supply, Forever Living Products acquired their own Aloe Vera plantations. In addition to providing the company with all the products they needed, this also gave them the ability to control the cultivation and quality of Forever Living Products' Aloe.
By owning the plantation they could control the high standards of an organic growing environment, free from chemical fertilisers and pesticides. Strict quality control and unique world patents on the stabilisation process ensured the aloe used in all Forever Living Products was the very best.

Whereas some companies add bleaching agents to their aloe products, Forever Living Products' Aloe Vera has a patented stabilization process and contains no artificial flavouring or colouring. FLP Aloe was tested by the Food & Drug Laboratories of New York who stated that FLP Aloe Vera Gel is 'essentially identical' to the raw gel of a fresh leaf.

Although aloe is most commonly used topically, Forever Living's key product has been its aloe vera beverage. The substance has long been used as a purgative agent, to which Maughan may have been referring when he asserted, "Aloe vera helps our bodies perform like they are supposed to." By the mid-1990s, the company had developed three flavors of aloe "juice": cranberry, apple, and natural.

Forever Living's product line includes aloe vera-based drinks, lotions, supplements, cosmetics, and detergents. The company owns 5,000 acres of aloe plantations and facilities capable of processing 6,000 gallons of raw aloe each day.

The company also made dozens of skincare and personal care products from aloe, including lotions, creams, soaps, hair care products, deodorant, aftershave, lip balm, and a burn treatment. Other aloe-based goods included toothpaste, colognes and perfumes, and laundry detergent.

FLP launched its line of Forever Bee Products in 1983. At the core of this group of nutritional supplements is "Royal Jelly," a food created by honeybees especially for the queen bee. Some scientists attribute the queen bee's growth, reproductive ability, and comparative longevity to her consumption of royal jelly.

Although the founder has asserted that, initially, he was not interested in selling vitamins and diet products, nutritional supplements would become an important segment of the Forever Living line. The company combined aloe with vitamins, ginseng, minerals, fish oils, garlic, and other substances to make an array of nutritional supplements. Forever Living's promotions were peppered with pseudo-scientific terms like "flavonoid extract" and "bioflavonoids," but the most the company would guarantee was that its products would "make people feel better and more beautiful."

Forever Living Products started with one man, Rex Maughan, and has expanded into a multi-billion dollar company with more than 8.75 million distributors in over 125 countries. They are the world's foremost grower, processor and distributor of Aloe Vera products and were the first company in the world to receive the International Aloe Science Council Seal of Approval, a confirmation of excellence.
