Munch a Bunch!
Californians have been cultivating grapes for more than 200 years, and provide an astounding 99 percent of the country's commercially grown grapes. The first vines were planted in 1769 when the Spanish friars established missions in the state and introduced Mediterranean produce items, including figs and olives. The trees and vines flourished in the warm, dry climates of southern and central California. Today, California wine, table grapes and raisins are important agricultural commodities, and the state is blanketed with 700,000 acres of vineyards.

We bought 4 bottles of 2 different wines from the Muscadine grape -- I rather like the taste for something different than our usual. Then we bought that 5th bottle of a Reserve 2007 white wine. We were told to let it age over a year and that it gets better.

Kim -- you have such a knack for putting together a 'yummy' and enticing lens. Love the picture of the cat munching on the grapevine. You know, I've noticed that you have quite a few winery/vineyard lenses -- enough to make up one humdinger of a group.
