Al Braunworth - A short biography
I grew up in Minnesota. Many of my fondest memories are from growing up around the Zumbro Falls area and wandering through the pastures of the small hobby farm we lived on. I think this was the period of my life where I learned to appreciate the outdoors and spending time in just about any kind of weather. That was the mid 70's when Minnesota still had real winters!
After graduating from Faribault High School I left home for the Air Force in late 1981. My training was for Aircraft Armaments Specialist. That was the best decision of my life to date. I was going to see the world, and did eventually get see a fair bit of it.
Initially, I was stationed in New Mexico, then on to England in 1983. Temporary duties included Portugal and Turkey. England was a wild country to drive in! After England I was stationed in Japan at Misawa Air Base, about as far north in Japan as one can go and still be on the mainland. Japan is where my photography interest really took off.
As an amateur photographer I traveled around northern Japan with an Canon AE-1 and a couple of lenses. Shooting mainly black & white film I suppose I didn't really have a goal for shooting, I just enjoyed it. If I only knew then what I know now!

The Early Days??
My wife and I made a military move to Clovis, New Mexico where I started my Computer Graphics degree. Photography was part of the course curriculum and pretty much ruined any chance of passing algebra since spending way more time in the photo lab than doing the algreba homework. Makes perfect sense to me.
I finished my degree in Powell, Wyoming and ended up moving south to Jackson, Wyoming where I fell into my early granite career. After a couple of years sawing, installing, and measuring granite, the career in Wyoming came to a halt along with the last marriage. Time to move back to Minnesota and start over again!
I picked up a magazine one day and read an article about stock photography. Thats pretty much how my photo passion blew up into a lot more than a hobby. I bought a Victory motorcycle and decided I needed paint and pipes, and all of the sudden I take up airbrush art. Between photography and airbrush art, a guy can only support so much time to either, and still keep a job! It's tough some days, but both hobbies have come a long way and I like to think that maybe I can find a way to make both be more profitable and still find time to go fishing once in awhile...
