Love Him Or Hate Him, Rev. Al Sharpton

Rev. Al Sharpton has been in the public eye for over 40 years as a community leader, advocate, politician and reverend.  In fact, he became a reverend at age 4 while giving his first sermon.

Some feel Rev. Sharpton is a champion for civil rights and a defender of the little guy.  Others feel he is a hypocrit who loves seeing his face on TV and seeing his name in the newspaper.  This lens is here to provide resources to help you make your opinion on this very controversial man.

jeffwend says:

RMS, you are right, he can be entertaining.

rms says:

No but I do enjoy listening to him. Sometimes he can be funny.

tommy says:

he is just as much of a racist as the people he preaches against....maybe even more...just this past week he made a personal attack against my greek heritage, for a reverand...he is not leading by example like he should be

GypsyPirate says:

Sorry - I can not take his opinions as fact and gospel. I feel he has too many agendas, hidden and otherwise.

Yes, he is a wise political and religious leader.

ANTONIA says:

I have great admiration and respect for Rev. Sharpton. The first time I ever heard of him I attended a community meeting in a small community called Coram in Long Island better known as the worst ghetto in LI. I saw a poster in the super market and decided to attend. I was extremely impressed that was back in 1985 or so. Since then I have noticed that Rev. Al Sharpton has risen to fame for his radical defense of racial rights. I say AMEN we need people who are bold the bible says "THE RIGHTEOUS ARE BOLD AS A LION"

Jessie says:

He speaks on the issues of everyday folk and is not afraid to speak truth to power. I admire him tremendously.

jasmine says:

yes

I suppose some people back in the day thought in ignorance that Martin Luther King should just preach and let God take care of the other stuff now aren't we glad Martin Luther King did what God told him to do. I believe REv. Sharpton is exactly what and who God wants him to be. I thank God for Rev. Shapton
