This set is divided along four themes: Mirror Universe, Twisted Realities, Parallel Dimensions, and Alternative Lives, showcasing some really outstanding stories from the five Trek incarnations. Each of the four categories has its own set of special features, all of which include fantastic discussions of the episodes by Star Trek legends. All in all this is a very nice set of episodes centered around interesting themes.

The original series episodes in this set are the remastered versions. I believe this is historic, since this is the first Star Trek DVD set to include remastered episodes with being a season set of just the remastered original show. I love the concept of these sets: a sampling from several series, all around one theme for people who like episodes of a theme. So, already, the set rocks.

I think these collections of various Star Trek themes and episodes are a wonderful idea. I own all the collections and my family and I enjoy watching them. I own the complete original series and the complete Voyager series as well. This is a great way to collect the best episodes of the other Star Trek series without buying the complete sets.

Out of the fan collective series, which in my view is better then just buying the bulk season sets, this one ranks as one of the best. I enjoyed all the episodes, particularly of the original series & the next generation episodes. I just wish they would make even more fan collectives, & stop recycling the same episodes in different box sets. The next fan collective should be on Vulcans, the Federation, or strange aliens. So far the best out of the fan series consists of the Borg, Time Travel, Captain's Log, and this one. Worth your money.
