The wave of the future!

It seems we hear it all the time now. "Alternative Energy is the wave of the future". Personally I'm glad I'm hearing it more. It means that people are finally realizing what oil has done to our beautiful planet.

I hope we run out of oil soon. Really I do. I think humankind needs a push to develop new technology so that we can thrive in a world without oil.

Alternative energy comes in many shapes and forms such as wind, solar, and water power.

Water power is perhaps the most popular for large power generation plants as moving water has a tremendous amount of energy.

For the residential consumer though, wind power is probably the most cost effective way. You can buy a wind generator for about $2500 or build your own for under $150 and power half of your home.

Solar power is for those individuals who are unlucky and don't have enough wind to make a wind generator a viable solution for them. Solar power is more expensive per watt produced, but with no moving parts rarely needs maintenance.
