Alternatives to eBay...that work

Ranked #407 in Internet, #18,993 overall

Alternatives to eBay...that work

This site only the bigger and more viable sites that get some traffic and some results. Many will be slower then eBay but often be far cheaper or free to list. If you sell on several you may find yourself doing better then you ever did on eBay.

eBay is best if you are selective or use it as a marketing tool ,while most low value or niche items you MUST sell of eBay to profit , find your niche !!

Some sites for local sites may have much more profits as you will eliminate shipping and branch out into local markets where you have an advantage. That is when free local online classifieds show great promise. However the national or international auction and web-store scene still thrives off of eBay where lower fees mean you will not be selling stock to serve eBay !
Update:2010 ! This humble squidoo lense has attracted lots of attention for its good info so I will continue to support the lense and update its info and lists ! There are plenty of interesting eBay alternatives that work ! Also I will be listing some of the best Paypal alternatives as well since Paypal has become an issue for many sellers since eBay took it over and brought much of its concepts to Paypal.

eBay is no longer the only show in town , check out some of the other sites!

Alternatives to eBay...that work

eBay is no longer the only show in town , check out some of the other sites!

Join eCrater Groundzero site if you have eCrater Store !

I launched "eBay Alternatives...that work" as I left eBay during one of the many boycotts of their poor policies and rising fees. I discovered there are plenty of other options. Even if you stick with eBay you should realize that multi-channel marketing and multi-channel selling is the way to go.

One of the best resources you could use are free online classifieds to reach buyers. Free, online and local lowers costs and allows you to post items over long period economically. You will be amazed that in some cities you will have intense interest that you would never find on eBay. They days of eBay being the number one resource was lost many years ago and the internet is not a niche environment anymore. Online classifieds have replaced newsprint classifieds in most communities.

There are also a few websites that do drive some traffic, eBay rivals that often only charge if you actually sell the item. You may find that traffic is slower so you may have to post items on several sites but its far more economical.

Having your own site, economically hosted through services like Godaddy and others is also a way to go. Controlling how you sell and display your items as well as the links and advertising is vital part of branding and marketing.

More choices, more control, more channels....it works

My blog is chalk full of promotions of various channels be it YouTube videos for promotion and links, Blurb for self publishing and other sites. Lammergeiernet blog serves as a test bed for many of the sites and services that I use so be sure to subscribe.

eBay alternatives, hope you liked my web page !

Thank you for visiting my lense! When I started this lense few years ago I had no idea it would generate such traffic. Just as you have I saw eBay slip away from being an empowering and interactive community to being ....well...what it is now. I hope some of these links and resources will empower your business or give you new ideas !

I have found another website where you can create own online store: www.24homeshop.com. Forget about selling on Ebay. Ebay is greedy and ask too much listing fees.
