Another world of cartoons exists outside of the comics page of your daily newspaper. Weekly tabloid format papers, also known as Alternative Weeklies, are common in the metro areas of the United States. A crop of cartoons have sprouted up appearing in these publications. They are often political and left-leaning but the best are funny and original. And since they don't feed off the mainstream, these cartoons can grow out toward the edges.

Cartoon Tour

Slow Wave by Jesse Reklaw
Weekly dream diary. Submit your own for consideration. Fascinating read.
K-Chronicles by Keith Knight
Sometimes political, sometime personal. "Life's Little Victories" are excellent.
Red Meat by Max Cannon
Sick. Twisted. And one of the most popular comic strips. Surprised?
Tiny Sepuku by Ken Cursoe
A love advice comic strip, a true original. Always funny. Don't miss it.
This Modern World by Tom Tomorrow
One of the most popular. Shooting from the Left at workingforchange.com.
Ted Rall by Ted Rall
Controversial, biting commentary. Even rude. Also shooting from the Left.
Slowpoke by Jen Sorensen
Another left shooter -- frequently fun and with unexpected subjects
Tom the Dancing Bug by Ruben Bolling
Practically a comics page on its own. Creative work, good read.
No Exit by Andy Singer
Graphically styled images with a point. Check out "Comics for Vegetables".
Rustle the Leaf by Ponce and Wright
Environmental comics. And, oh, so cute.
How To Be Happy by Shannon Wheeler
New cartoon from the "Too Much Coffee Man" creator
Idiot Box by Matt Bors
Political sarcasm. Thick and juicy.
Small World Cartoons by Tom Briscoe
Shameless self-promotion. What did you expect? :)
