The Aluminum Christmas Tree
Nothing says 1960's Christmas quite like the Aluminum Christmas tree. Offered in a variety of sizes and colors, the aluminum tree gained popularity in the 60's. A renewed interest in these shiny spectacles have made them a hot commodity among collectors.
First offered to consumers in 1959 by the Aluminum Specialty Company based in Manitowoc, Wisconsin, aluminum trees soon became all the rage. Other companys soon picked up on the fad and began producing their own versions. With no need to string lights, and easy to set up, these space aged trees were soon offered in a variety of colors, including: pink, gold, green, blue and red. They also ranged in size from a mere 18" to a towering 8ft tree.
Color Wheels lit up the trees while other optional accessories, like the rotating tree stand, showcased it in all it's spectacular glory. Making it very hard for buyers to resist it's sparkling personality.
