Amanda Baggs advocates for disability rights
She blogs, she makes breathtaking Youtube videos, she speaks at conferences and sometimes appears on TV.
Readers of her blog frequently beg of her to write a book - she's that good a writer. Not just good "for a retard", as she quotes in her blog! Nobody should ever say that about her - there are very few people in the world, both abled and disabled, who can write as well as she does.
Amanda Baggs advocates disability rights because she is disabled in some areas herself. That's why she has intimate understanding of the topic, having had her own rights denied countless times.
She is very abled and supremely talented in some other areas - such as fast typing, superb writing and making a point. That, combined with the direct experience of disability, makes her the best advocate ever.

(For all of you first-time non-disabled viewers, I have this advice: to avoid confusion, skip to minute 3:12 of this video, the "Translation" part. That's what CNN did, too.)
By the way, did you notice that this video is dedicated to Ashley X? That's another famous disabled person, who unfortunately can not yet speak for herself. But don't be so sure she has nothing to say.
In My Language
The first part is in my "native language," and then the second part provides a translation, or at least an explanation. This is not a look-at-the-autie gawking freakshow as much as it is a statement about what gets considered thought, intelligence, personhood, language, and communication, and what does not.
