Amaury Vassili | France

This is the song that Amaury Vassili sang at the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest. Entitled Sognu, it is recorded in the Corsican language, and is a powerful pop-opera crossover track. Although the song did not win the competition, this young man's voice has been one of the best ever heard at Eurovision.

I enjoy a romantic love song and very well remember the original of this one by two of Motown's biggest stars, Diana Ross and Lionel Richie. Here, Amaury Vassili is joined by the highly successful Welsh soprano for their rendition of Endless Love.

Being a Brit, I had not realised that one of England's most patriotic songs had been translated into another language. Written to the music of Elgar's Coronation Ode, Land of Hope and Glory is often considered as England's unofficial anthem. However, here is Amaury Vassili doing a wonderful job with the tune.
