Introducing Cake Maker, Tracy (Sweet Treacle)
I came across New Zealander Tracy in my extensive cake searches. She stood out to me as an extremely talented cake maker... one consistently above and beyond many I'd seen. She has made so many outstanding cakes... with detail on all of them that was just so so good... not a flaw to be seen! I honestly do not know how anyone can bring themselves to cut into them!!?
What really blew me away was to see all the wonderful cakes she'd made over the last few years all the while looking after and caring for her TRIPLETS!! :)
So I really wanted to make a page just to display many of her brilliant cakes... and she very kindly agreed. Tracy doesn't create cakes for selling... all her work is for friends and family... isn't that amazing? She's hoping perhaps though when the triplets are a little older she can look into having a cake business. I think she should... don't you? (New Zealanders... keep an eye out for her!)
Her idol and biggest inspiration is Debbie Brown (see her books below). And she also credits her friends on FLICKR that give her endless inspiration and ideas.
I have to say... I think it takes true talent to be able to recreate designs to this level! Cake making definitely comes naturally to Tracy.

This Blue Teddy cake was created by Tracy's daughter Dana who was only 10 at the time!! She entered it in the Kumeu show and got highly commended. Tracy was so proud!

This Rugrats Cake blows me away every time I look at it!! The Detail is amazing and look how good the characters look... just like the actual cartoon characters!! And did you notice the monster peaking around the back of the sofa? Tracy is just so so good!!
These three cakes were done for triplet boys turning 5. Each cake is done in each boys favourite colour! They are dark chocolate mud cakes about 4 inches high.

When I was young in Australia... it was ALL about the Women's Weekly Cake Books! Every kid I knew would go ga ga over the prospect of being able to pick a cake out of one of the yearly brilliant cake books for their Mum to make! It made birthday's just so special! And for 30 years I thought the Women's Weekly cake books were IT... that is until I learned of all the books listed below!!! A cake makers library could be so extensive and wonderful... I reckon I'd spend all day just looking through them! :)

I can't quite believe it! Awoke to see this page awarded my first ever Purple star... as well as hearing I've been made a Squidoo Giant! I am just so chuffed... words can't describe it!!
