Award Winning Green Dragon Cake

I have looked at something like 5000 cakes to find the best of the best...but when saw this one, my jaw literally dropped. Is this dragon epic, or what?

The designer & cake decorator of this awesome dragon is Courtney from Courtney's Cakes (via Flickr).

This cake won 2nd place in the professional division at the Great American Cake show in Maryland. Fantastic!

So why didn't this amazing cake creation win 1st place? Apparently the judges would have liked it to have more cake in it. Courtney explains, "I used as much cake as I could considering the 8 1/2 hour drive." Can you imagine trying to transport a giant dragon?? The whole main body was cake and the limbs were padded with Rice Krispie marshmallow treats over a pvc frame.

This dragon cake stood 2 1/2 feet tall and an epic 4 feet long.
