The Amazing Maze in the Maize -- Corn Mazes!
Ranked #5,197 in Home & Garden, #64,309 overall
The Fun Fall Labyrinth - Particularly Prominent During October in the Northern Hemisphere
The first time I got lost in a cornfield, it was terrifying. The corn was way over my head and the rows were not well defined because of the underbrush. (This was more than quite a few years ago, before more advanced farming methods provided open rows between the cornstalks.) But that experience has made a lasting impression on me.

I'm not particularly fond of labyrinth-like forests, fields, or buildings--but they are interesting from a different view.

So, Get Lost Already!
Corn Mazes may have been around for many years--and perhaps even for centuries.

Maybe they were inspired by the stories of the Greek Labyrinths. The disorientation in a corn maze (or any maze, for that matter) is one thing during the day.... at night or in the fog, it becomes a whole 'nuther experience!

The sound of the wind or breeze rustling through all the leaves is a bit disconcerting--as are the noises made by the assorted birds, lizards, snakes, racoons, rabbits, and other critters that might also inhabit the field. During the day, you can orient according to the sun. At night, if you aren't adept with star navigation, you will be even more lost!

- Thanks for this a-maize-ing lens. I navigated through Cornelius, the dinosaur shaped corn maize in Annville, PA. It was many years ago, and I learned later that it was one of the very first ones ever. Fun!

- I came from corn country and this brings back vivid memories of the tall-cool corn beyond the cherry orchard.

- Mazes amaze me, no pun intended. I wish they would rebuild the once great maze at Hampton Court. When I visited all that was there was a poor example. Thanks for the lens.
