Old Television Shows Have Best Theme Songs

Classic tv and their theme songs can bring back happy memories if you're like me and enjoy old television shows. A TV theme song can be awesome in its power to transition my attention. I hear myself humming movie soundtracks or spouting words and melodies from "The Sound of Music," "Oklahoma," and "Hard Days Night" when I least expect them.

CSI-NY, CSI-Miami and a handful of others, are truly worth the zap on the remote control - Whether or not I watch the entire program! If I can, I will always listen when the television theme goes into gear.

These musical sounds say to me: "Chill! Girl, Relax!" "Life is a Beach!"

And the way he sings, "we won't get fooled again." Again, the artists are from "The Who," a British band.

The images of actors are better on some of these than on others. Which ones do you like?

Music by The Who totally escaped non-musical me; until I heard it on TV.

My Favorite Movie Soundtracks & Top 100 by Entertainment Weekly

First in Entertainment Weekly's list of top 100 Movie Soundtracks is "'Hard Days Night,' the soundtrack that turned a nation into a glee club. In 1964, the Beatles had already taken over our radios and TV sets when they decided to commandeer our movie palaces, too.

"The resulting film was an exhilarating fusion of the backstage musical and postmodern absurdism. To re-create the hysteria that had greeted their ''Ed Sullivan Show'' appearances, the Fabs had to come up with tunes that would out-pleasure ''Please Please Me.'' And they delivered, the film's seven classics ranging from the plaintive ''And I Love Her'' to the ecstatic ''Can't Buy Me Love.''

"The music stands on its own, yet is forever tied in our imaginations to the film -- a blitzkrieg of black-and-white imagery that changed the way we see the world. We can't think of a better definition of a great soundtrack."

Mr. Rogers' TV Theme Song is Pure Nostalgia

This is the only one I could find among a gazillion tv show songs for children. Unfortunately, Captain Kangaroo's recordings don't seem to be available.

Did You Watch Mr. Rogers' Neighborhood? Captain Kangaroo? If You Did Get Ready to Cry

Some of the most talented ~ thank heaven ~ write and sing for children

Some of the comments left on YouTube will also make you cry! Here are two:
"In 1965 I was a lonely, 4-year-old only child being raised by my grandmother. Captain Kangaroo's show gave me so much comfort. He and Green Jeans and Dancing Bear and the rest were my friends. I never got into Mr Rogers. I was a Kangaroo guy."
Sometimes, I would sit with my children to watch both Captain Kangaroo and then, in the afternoon, we all loved it when we found Mr. Rogers and his delightful neighborhood. We sang the theme songs together.
Here's another tribute left on YouTube: "Thank you so much for posting this tribute. I was born in the mid 60's and spent my childhood watching tthis show. What a beautiful tribute. I find it very sad that my 4 year old daughter doesn't have all this kind of magic on TV anymore. much garbage on tv and it is sad. They just don't seem to just get to be kids anymore. I come here and play these old shows for my daughter daily. To see her eyes light up is such a joy . Why can't we have this kind of magic today for kids?

Music really makes a difference in introducing a show and throughout the plot development in the story! You've picked some great ones! My favorite one ~ ???, I don't know, there are too many!

Great lens - but you are missing the classic 60s theme songs - Brady Bunch, Partridge Family, Gilligans Island, Adams Family - back then almost every show had a song!
