Amazing Children On the Internet

Meet Morgan and Rhiannon

I am a grandma. I grew up in a world without microwaves, mobile telephones, fax machines and e-mail. I congratulate myself when I finally figure out something technological! In this day and age I am a misfit -- daily adjusting to a world of electronic equipment and diligently trying to learn. I am continually amazed by our pre-school grandchildren as they "play" on the computer. Both children are adept with the mouse, they "get" that connection. I can remember so well trying to learn that concept. I was in my 40's at the time -- and it took me quite a few days to learn to use a mouse.

So I am sure you can imagine my fascination when an internet friend, Charly Leetham, recently told me that her children were building their own businesses on line. Charly sent me the delightful video you can see -- Young Internet Entrepreneurs. Just click on the video above this article.
Can you imagine what these children will be creating in ten years from now?
P.S. As soon as my grandchildren are old enough, I am going to teach them to Squidoo like Morgan and Rhi. Would you like to teach your children to Squidoo? Visit their lens at Teach Your Kids Squidoo

These bios were written by their mom, Charly Leetham, who is also their mentor (and mine!):

Morgan Leetham

Morgan Leetham- Morgan is currently 13 years old (2008) and your typical boy. More motivated by computer games and the latest "shoot 'em up" than cleaning or any other sort of work like activity. However, he is very aware of financial considerations and knowledgable about money. This made clear to us, when he was 6 and offered to "rent" Daddy money to buy him ice-cream. When queried, he clearly stated he would rent Daddy the money to buy the ice-cream, but Daddy would have to give it back later with more (read, interest).

A very thoughtful and caring child, Morgan has decided that an online business will allow him the freedom to pursue his online gaming quests without having Mum nag at him! Seriously though, he is a very "switched on" young man who understands the power of passive income and how the Internet can help him achieve this.

His websites are:
RPG Guild Hall
Drittz Duorden

Rhiannon Leetham

Rhiannon Leetham --A passionate 11 year old with "the gift". At a very early age, Rhiannon would tell her Mum (Charly) about the visits overnight from her Mums Grandma. What convinced Rhis' Mum about the person who was visiting was the description Rhi gave of the old woman having a "crabby" face! Charly, always believing she had a touch of the gift herself, sought to ensure that her daughter did not loose the touch through the programming of current day society. Rhiannon has been encouraged to "see" what she does and share that freely with her close family. Rhiannon has asked for this gift to be extended and has decided to use that as her basis to develop her online business. Not only does Rhi promote a "Learn To Be Psychic" program, she studies her own course, and is having an EBook written specifically for her. Rhiannon also loves cooking and has developed a website and Squidoo lens around this as well.

Rhis sites are:

Thank you, Charly. You are a super mom (mum)and we appreciate your sharing your children with us. You and they are an inspiration to every child who sits in front of a computer!

Update - Rhiannon to be Featured as a Young Entrepreneur 11-3-08

This is copied directly from Rhi's mom, Charly Leetham's, blog at
Charly Leetham

You can see Rhi's winning video at Cash-Smart Kids You Tube Video Competition

I am very big on encouraging my children to have online businesses. Today, I received the best news ever!

My 12 year old Daughter, Rhiannon has been selected as one of two Under 16 year old entrepreneurs to be featured in a book written by Business Writer Peter Economy.

Rhiannon receives this honour through a competition run by Jenny Ford from Cash Smart Kids and will be featured in Peter's 2008 Charity Book Project. The Charity Book Project was developed by Peter Economy as a way to use his passion - writing - to give something back, and hopefully to make the world a better place.

His plan? To write a book each year, with a co-author, and donate the proceeds to charity. In the first year, 2008, he has chosen to work with Jenny Ford and write a book to empower parents to teach their kids the money and business skills they need to be self-sufficient in the modern economy.

Jenny devised a competition where the kids had to develop a 2 minute YouTube Video or write a Hubpage about their business. Two winners would be chosen.

Rhiannon will be profiled alongside big names like Ben Casnocha, who started a software business at 13, and was CEO of a Silicon Valley start-up by seventeen.

Jenny's announcement was made on her blog today - Raising Entrepreneurs.

Rhiannons website helps people Learn To Be Psychic and the blog helps her share experiences and lessons she is learning.

Surfing Pre-schoolers!

These little girls are learning to surf at an early age!

Our dear friend sent these notes about her little girls, who are surfers already!!!

........Madelyn is 8. She started surfing when she was 3. She had a board that was made for a child her size. She caught on fast....she loved it (but would have loved anything her Daddy loved...big time daddy's girl!)

Bella who is 6, also started when she was 3. She only surfed a little board for a very short while. By then her sister was using a 5 foot surf board, so she wasn't going to let Madelyn get anything up on her. Bella was up and at it even faster than Madelyn. That mostly having to do with the fact she isn't scared of a thing.....sharks....what sharks? She was light as a feather and could jump right up and wasn't afraid of a thing. Madelyn and Bella both plan to do their very first competition this year. We hate we haven't already entered them in one yet.....big mistake on our part.

The girls with their daddy make their weekend trip to the surf shop every week...new wax, leashes, or rainbows. But, they always go to check out the new boards. Jason is obsessed with this hobby and the girls are following close behind. Sine everyone is getting so involved...I think Mom might give it a try this year...I will let you know how that goes.

Jason grew up near the beaches of South Carolina so he has always had a love for the beach. He could waddle in the sand all day. He began surfing when he was 10 years old. He entered many contests when he was younger. He loved going to Cape Hatteras. He surfed in many competitions up and down the east coast individually as well as with his high school surf team. He has gone to the Abacos and Nicaragua in the past few years. He loved Nicaragua so much, he bought some land while he was there. Just a five minute walk...to his heaven on earth. He is so excited about his girls taking up a sport that he is so passionate about.

Kyle Lograsso

A lesson in golf and courage

I have included the video of the Kyle Lograsso story because he inspires me so much. If you have not seen Kyle's story, please take a few minutes and watch the video. You will be glad that you did.

Kyle is a little fellow who loves golf and seems to be a natural at the game. He also is successfully battling cancer of the eyes.

My husband, children, grandchildren and I all enjoy following Kyle's story. Our grandchildren are 4 and 6 year olds who love to play golf. And my husband, a former golf club professional, has been legally blind for the past 20 years. We appreciate Kyle's talent, his struggles, and his wonderful family support.

Enjoy and be inspired!

Connie Talbot

When you watch the u-tube video of Connie Talbot singing "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", you will be mesmerized. Connie's talent leaves me astounded every time I watch the video - and I have seen it dozens of times -- the grandchildren sit quietly and watch without interruption -- and they are little pre-schoolers. She seems to take over the stage and hold your attention in an almost "awestruck" way. This child is gifted -- and she will inspire you.

What a phenomenal lens Joan. It's amazing how much we can learn from kids. And to think Boomers and Gen Y can't learn to get along in the workplace. Sometimes it's great to take a step back to realize they're other things more important! Great perspective!

Wow Joan! How inspirational watching all these remarkable children. All children (and parents) need to realise that they can do this too, it just takes application....

I learn from my kids everyday - I love the fact that they question everything, respectfully, because it makes me look again.

Joan, keep up the wonderful work.
