This is no joke. Dark chocolate really does have health benefits!

The science is coming in fast and furious. It's all good!

Now we really know why chocolate makes us happy when we eat it!

But not all chocolates are created equally.

ORAC and Dark Chocolate

ORAC www.gourmethealthychocolateI bet you didn't know that dark chocolate (cacao) when it is pure, unprocessed, unheated, and untreated has the highest ORAC of any substance in the world!

Well that is exactly what it has.. but not any old chocolate. Only dark chocolate or raw cocoa that hasn't had any processing done to it.

Commercially this can be a problem, but there are brands out there that really do give you the health benefits that dark chocolate is touted for.

ORAC (which is the measure of antioxidants in a food) of unprocessed cocoa is a whopping 80,933 according to one source, and 28,000 according to another!!!!!!

Either way that is higher than any other food in the world that has been tested so far.

    Dark chocolate. Nothing else quite compares. Thanks for sharing this chocolate experience. It saddens me when I cannot find my favorite, Dove Dark on the shelf of the local drugstore.
