Where to GET an Amazon UK Gift Card

Do Sainsburys Sell Amazon Gift Cards?

The easiest place to get an Amazon UK Gift Card/Certificate is from the Amazon UK Website itself. Here's a link straight to the >> Amazon Gift Card section. Various online vendors sell Amazon gift cards - but if you're shopping online I'd recommend you get them directly from Amazon.

The Gift Card Centre

Thanks to Alan who let me know about The Gift Card Centre website which stocks both physical and email gift cards from Amazon.co.uk - and you can pay by cheque as well as a credit/debit card. Please note that I've not personally tried this site but I'm giving it here as an option for you.

Do Sainsburys Sell Amazon Gift Cards?

Can you buy Amazon gift cards in a local shop? I've never seen Amazon gift cards sold locally (even in our local branch of Sainsburys) but other shoppers have claimed that you can purchase Amazon Gift Cards from some Sainsbury and Argos stores. So, if you wanted to buy an Amazon gift card locally, pop into your local store and have a look. Or give them a ring to save wasting a trip.

Sainsbury's Switchboard Telephone number:

You are also able to get Amazon Gift Vouchers with your Sainsbury Nectar points online at www.sainsburys.co.uk.

PAYMENT FAQS

Methods of payment you can use to buy Gift Cards

Can I buy Amazon Gift Cards with Paypal? No. Amazon do not accept paypal as a payment method. The only method I'm aware of for buying Amazon vouchers via paypal is to purchase them from ebay. A word of caution: although there are many genuine gift cards sold on ebay, there are also frauds. Be aware that paypal will not cover you if there ends up being a problem with your gift card purchase. If something seems too good to be true, then it probably is! Buying gift vouchers from ebay is not an option I would personally recommend but some people use this route. Just be very careful if you do.

Can I use my current Gift Card Balance to buy Amazon Gift Cards? No. You cannot use your current Amazon Gift Card Balance to purchase gift cards from Amazon.

Can I use my Sainsbury Nectar points to purchase Amazon Gift Vouchers? Yes. If you shop at Sainsburys and use their Nectar reward card, you can collect your points and redeem them for Amazon Gift Cards. You have to order the Amazon gift certificates via the Nectar.com website online.

What payment methods can I use on Amazon to buy Gift Cards? You can use the following credit cards: Visa, Delta, Visa Electron, MasterCard, Eurocard, American Express. And you can also use debit cards: UK-based Maestro, Solo and Visa cards.

Can I buy a Gift Card from Amazon with a cheque or postal order? No. If you want to pay by cheque, try The Gift Card Centre which offers this as a payment method.

You can view all currently accepted forms of payment via the Amazon >> Payment Options page. Note that Gift Certificates can not be used for buying further Gift Cards/Vouchers.

How to BUY a Gift Card

Step-by-Step Buying Walkthrough from Amazon.co.uk

1) Go to the Amazon.co.uk Gift Certificates page >> Gift Certificate Purchase

2) There are 3 options to choose from: email a gift certificate / print a gift certificate from your printer / post a gift certificate with free delivery. You need to select the option that works best for you and click the relevant "Buy Now" button.

NOTE: If you are going to print a Gift Card yourself, please refer to >> Gift Card FAQs And select option 4 - How do I print a Gift Certificate at Home?

3) With every option, you can choose a gift certificate design. There are birthday, Christmas, Valentines, Easter and lots of other designs to select from. If you don't select anything, you'll just get the standard design.

4) Enter the Gift Card amount which can be up to a maximum of £1000. You can also enter who it is to and from and a personal message. For emailing a Gift Card, you will need the recipients email address (or you can also email it to yourself and forward on) and for mailing or posting a Gift Card you'll need to enter the delivery address on the checkout page.

5) Select the "Add to Order" button. The Gift Card will be added to the "Gift Certificate Order" box which should be displayed at the top right of the web page. Gift certificates are not added to your shopping basket like regular orders. So if you move away from the checkout process you'll have to start over.

6) You can order multiple Gift Cards by going back to the left side of the page and adding in the new details in the order form again. Then click the "Add to order" button again. When you're finished with adding all your gift certificates, click the "Proceed to Checkout" button in the Gift Certificate Order box. This should be at the top right of the ordering page.

7) You'll probably be required to Sign In to your Amazon.co.uk account with your email and password.

8) The next step is to input your payment information (Credit or Debit card) and click on the "Continue" button.

9) You get a chance to check that your order is correct before selecting the "Place your order" button to complete the Gift Card purchase.

10) You should receive an email confirmation from Amazon once the order has been placed.

How to USE an Amazon Gift Card

What to do when you're given an Amazon UK Gift Card

The best way to use an Amazon Gift Card is normally to redeem it first on the Amazon.co.uk website. Then the credit which is added to your account can be used at any time.

For buying certain items such as Kindle ebooks, you need to redeem the Gift Card first. This is because ebooks on Amazon are purchased using a 1-click setting and there is no opportunity for you to add the item to a shopping basket and then apply a gift card amount to it.

If you want to see ALL the methods of using a Gift Card, please refer to the up-to-date details on the Amazon website >> Gift Card FAQs under the section, Using Your Gift Certificate.

If you have more than one gift card which you want to apply to a higher cost item, you need to redeem each one to your Amazon Gift Card Balance using the method below.

1) Visit the >> Amazon UK Store and click on "Gift Cards" which is normally near the top-middle of the web page. Or visit >> Amazon UK Gift Card

2) Near the top-right of the Amazon web page, you should see the "Have a gift card? Apply to Your Account" button. Or, if you look down the left-hand side, there's a text link which says "Apply to Your Account." Select one of these options.

3) Find your Gift Card details. If you received an Amazon Gift Card by post or hand, then you need this. Or if you received the Gift Card as an email, make sure you have this email to hand.

4) Look for the Claim Code on your Gift Card/Certificate. The claim code is normally a long line of numbers and letters. With a plastic gift card, you need to gently scratch off or remove the silver label at the back using a coin. The claim code will be printed underneath the label.

5) Pop the claim code into the claim code box on the Amazon website. If you have the claim code in an email, you can simply copy it and paste it into the box. Then press the button "Apply to Your Account."

NOTE: any purchases you make on Amazon will be automatically deducted from the gift balance first before an alternative method of payment (if you have one) is used. You can select whether your payment comes from your Gift Card balance or from another source (ie Debit or Credit card) by opting not to use the Amazon 1-click setting. Refer to >> 1-Click FAQs

For Kindle ebook purchasing, your gift card balance is always used first against the cost of the order. If you don't have enough funds in your gift card balance then the credit/debit card you have on file will be used to make up the difference.

How you can EARN Amazon Gift Cards

Places where you can earn Amazon Gift Cards in the UK

Since the beginning of 2011, I've used the website Swagbucks.com to earn Amazon gift cards. In just a few months of very minor usage, I earned back £30. I'm now averaging Swagbucks payouts at at approximately £15 per month which is over £180 per year. Not a fortune but a very nice payment to go towards buying Christmas presents.

What I actually do to "earn" Swagbucks points is very little. You can build up points and redeem for other items but I'm just interested in the Amazon gift cards. The only thing I do to earn these Swagbucks points is to use the Swagbucks search engine to look up information online instead of using Google. Nice and simple.

If you wanted to earn more Swagbucks (and therefore more Amazon Gift Cards) than I do, you can also watch videos, play games, take part in surveys, do daily polls and also find winning Swagbucks codes. All these things give you more points.

If you want to join Swagbucks (it is available to the UK, US and other countries) please consider using my affiliate link (especially my info has been useful to you) and I might just earn a few more Gift Cards to go towards my book spending! Here's where you join:

>> Join Me and Earn Extra Money with Swagbucks

If you don't want to use my link, I still heartily recommend you head over and give Swagbucks a try. Just google it.

You can also earn Amazon Gift Cards with Sainsburys Nectar points. Nectar is the Sainsbury loyalty points card.

And there are a variety of sites which offer Amazon Gift Cards in exchange for doing surveys: Toluna, Valued Opinions and Lightspeed Panel. But I have not tried or tested these out.

TROUBLESHOOTING Gift Cards

Problems with Amazon UK gift cards and what to do

I've never experienced any issues with Gift Cards from Amazon and I've used this service a lot. But should you encounter issues with buying or using an Amazon Gift Card, please refer to >> Gift Card FAQs in the first instance.

If the FAQs page does not answer your question, then please give Amazon a call. Their customer service is the best I've ever encountered and they will try to patiently resolve your problem or query. Visit the >> Amazon Help Page and select "How to Contact Customer Service" You might be required to fill out a quick form online.

you can also buy an amazon gift card with paypal, again at http://www.thegiftcardcentre.co.uk. You can't buy an amazon gift card with paypal at amazon.

Thank you, Alan. That is useful to know that this is possible. I wish Amazon would allow purchases with paypal.

Hi there... Can I buy Amazon gift cards in UK, and send to a person in US and they can used there?

    Thanks
  • kinworm Mar 26, 2012 @ 3:54 am | delete
Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure that this is not possible - at least not easily possible. You would have to purchase a gift card in US currency for a start which you just can't purcase from Amazon.co.uk - in fact they actually state that gift cards bought in the UK cannot be redeemed on Amazon.com which is the US site.
