Kindle Fire Versus Apple IPAD

Ranked #4,278 in Computers & Electronics, #78,597 overall

Introducing: The Kindle Fire

Is the new Kindle Fire designed to be an IPAD killer?

Perhaps. But the Kindle Fire quite a lot going for it.

The Fire has a super-fast browser called the Silk, that totally re-imagines the way a browser works. It integrates the cloud and puts far more of the strain of downloading on the Amazon servers, and takes much of the computations OUT of the browser. Making it work far faster than traditional wireless browsers.

The Price is just a fraction of the IPAD while the biggest thing "given up" is access to ONLY WiFi and no 3G.

With just a quick look at the Kindle Fire Tablet you can see it has:

  • Amazon Quality

  • A Super fast Web Browser

  • An Unbeatable Price

  • But let's be honest IPAD still has some things going for it (but at a much greater price.)

Because of this The New Kindle Fire will likely not crush the IPAD. But It will become THE target for affordable tablets.

In these tough economic times paying less than half the price for something with more than 3/4 of the features (and some improvements: like the browser) is a "no brianer">

The IPAD will still have it's happy and satisfied buyers, but the Kindle FIre which is really not a step down and less than 1/2 the price will attract quite a few buyers.

    Advantages of the IPAD

Yes, the IPAD still has some advantages

All the advantages of the Kindle FireRemember some of these advantages come with the most expensive versions of the Apple IPAD.

To get ALL of these advantages (64GB and 3G wireless service) you have to pay up to $849 which is enough to pay for four Kindle Fire's

So let's look at the advantages of the IPAD over the Kindle Fire

  • The IPAD has a Built-in Camera.

  • IPAD has a 2.7 inch larger screen (but also weighs more because of this)

  • It has more memory (16-64GB rather than 8GB depending on price)

  • 3G wireless(for an additional price OVER the base cost which is already more than two times that of the Amazon tablet)
  • How about The Kindle Fire Tablet?

    Advantages of the Kindle Fire:

    Amazon's answer to the IPAD

  • Size. Not a huge Advantage. The slightly smaller screen is a negative. But it also wieghs about 1/2 of what an IPAD does. A small advantage, but an advantage.

  • Battery Life: 8 hours compared to 7.5 hours. Another very small advantage, but a small improvement.

  • The Silk Browser: This is a revolutionary designed Browser and a huge improvement. Even with less memory the Kindle fire loads pages quicker because of the many ways it uses the cloud and operates many of its algorithmic functions offsite. This is a game changer that many future tablets will likely be copying.

  • Damage Resistance: The Kindle Fire display is chemically strengthened to be 20 times stiffer and 30 times harder than plastic, making it extra durable and resistant to accidental bumps and scrapes.

  • And of course the 800 pound gorilla: Price

  • Price. At $199 dollars each Kindle is dirt cheap in comparison all other tablets. In fact Amazon takes a loss for each tablet made. (hoping to make the difference up in future product purchases)

  • Does all this kill the IPAD. Of course not. The IPAD is still a very nice option, as is the Kindle Fire. For those who find 3G an essential option, IPAD is the THE choice. But for anyone uses WiFi more often; the Kindle FIre, with some small advantages and huge price difference quickly becomes the best choice.
