The Cost Benefit of Amazon Kindle

While the $359 price of the Kindle may put off many people at first glance, the immediate benefits outweigh the upfront costs, while the longterm cost benefit more than makes up for the initial purchase price of the device.

Benefit: Space and Weight
As a book fiend, when I travel, I always lug a big stack of books with me. I never leave home on a trip with less than 10 books packed in my suitcase, and I bring more than I end up reading for fear of being stuck without a book. Nevermind that if I really needed to, I could always hit a bookstore. I have to have plenty of reading material on hand wherever I am.

With a Kindle, I can save space and weight in my suitcase and bring more books in digital format than I possibly have time to read on the trip.

Benefit: Book Cost
The average new print hardcover is around $24.95, while the average new mass market paperback is around $7.99. Let's say you pack 2 hardcovers and 3 paperbacks for your trip (a conservative estimate for myself.)

The average new book cost would be about $73.87. If you purchased these same books on Kindle, the average cost would be about $39.16, a savings of close to half of the print book price, plus you saved all that room and weight in your suitcase.

Do this a few times and the Kindle will end up paying for itself over the long run.

FREE Kindle Book to Get You Started

Who can resist free stuff?

Bestselling author Sherrilyn Kenyon's paranormal romance, Seize the Night is currently FREE on Amazon. That's right, FREE!

If you enjoy paranormal romance, the Dark-Hunter series is a light, fun and absorbing visit to a world of vampires, werewolves, and mythology.

Seize the Night

Amazon Price: $4.74 (as of 10/07/2008)
List Price: $14.00

Product Description

Valerius isn't a popular Dark-Hunter-he's a Roman, which means that the largely Greek Hunters have a major grudge against him and his civilization for superceding them. To make things worse, he's very conscious of his aristocratic background and breeding. So it serves him right when he runs into Tabitha Devereaux. She's sassy, sexy, and completely unwilling to take him seriously. (Not to mention that she's the twin sister of the wife of former Dark-Hunter Kyrian-Val's mortal enemy.) What Tabitha does take seriously is hunting and killing vampires-and soon she and Val have to grapple with the deadliest of all Daimons-one who's managed to come back from the dead, and one who holds a serious grudge against both of them. To win against evil, Val will have to loosen up, learn to trust, and put everything on the line to protect a man he hates and a woman who drives him nuts.

Bestselling Kindle Books

Download your Kindle book in less than a minute, or download the first chapter for free to see if you like it before you buy.

Kindle books are $9.99 or less for hardcovers, approximately 60% off the list price of the average print hardcover, and paperbacks are generally at least 20% less than the print version.

Bottom line: save money, space and paper.
