Make Money with Amazon and Squidoo

You could become an Amazon Associate by yourself - this is what they call their affiliates. Basically if you send someone to their site and that person makes a purchase you get a percentage.

On Amazon they have a number of different payment tiers depending on how many sales you make. If you make a lot of sales then you will get a higher percentage back, if this is the case then use your link and put it into a Text/Write module.

However, if you do not make many sales then you will be in a lower tier in which case use one of the Amazon modules. Why? Well Squidoo are in the top payment tier with Amazon so while you'll be splitting the commission with Squidoo you will still be getting approx. the same amount. Squidoo also gets something which will help them to keep proving the free platform for you. It also does a couple of other things for you:-

Sales help to give your lensrank a boost which means that you may earn more from Squidoo's monthly payments.

You get paid for your sale by paypal through Squidoo (where you can set you payment threshold to $1) so you get your money quicker.

There are six different Amazon modules just to make things interesting. They are Amazon, Amazon Spotlight, Amazon Plexo, Amazon Recommendations, Amazon MP3, and Amazon Search.

Absolutely! I used to just use the Amazon modules in Squidoo and then I read about including text links using your own Amazon affiliate links. I decided to try and combine the two ideas on one of my lenses. This lenses has sold 6 books............all through the text links and nothing through the modules!

However I will have to wait until my total reaches $100 before Amazon will send me a check, unlike if they had brought through Squidoo. I have expanded this idea to some other lenses, but have only had one click on a text link in my most popular lens that contains them. I guess it depends on the reader as to which they are more likely to click.

I have recently written a purely sales lens on YSL bags and have used Fluff's links exclusively on the lens. The products are all higher ticket ones and so if I make a sale I won't have to wait too long to receive payment for Amazon........just something to think about.

There have been lots of helpful tips about selling Amazon at Squidu and on different lenses, but here are just a couple of points to remember.

If the product has been rated and has 4 or 5 stars click on the display module and select rank - customers like to see stars.

If there are a lot of bad feedback on the product, don't try and sell it - customers WILL read the feedback.

Check out how many customers who look at the product actually buy it. Only select products that are brought by over 80% of customers who look at them as they are more likely to convert to sales for you. Now having said that, sometimes it's not possible for example if you are writing a lens on Lady GaGa then you need to have her album etc on the lens whatever the ranking, but if you are doing a lens on something where there are a couple of options for you to use - choose the highest converting one.
