I LOVE reading, but I must admit, it puts me to sleep (just like driving long distances does -- yikes!), so I can't read before bedtime. Love your article, and thanks for stopping by and visiting my gift one as well! Sounds like you are truly enjoying the simpler things in life, like words. Cool!
  • vikksimmons Apr 25, 2012 @ 3:47 pm | delete
Interesting info. Thanks for the glimpse into Amazon reviewing. I'm a confirmed buyer but a slipshod reviewer. Maybe I need to go back and review all those things I've bought. :)
  • Helene-Malmsio Apr 14, 2012 @ 12:21 am | delete
oh wow - another LoD winning lens - congratulations! I like to also post reviews on Amazon about the products I buy and like, especially books, so I'll be checking out all the tips here. Might even help in my IM reviewing!
  • Frischy Mar 23, 2012 @ 4:13 pm | delete
I like this idea. I love shopping at Amazon. It saves me so much time and energy. The reviews are especially helpful in understanding the product and having confidence that I will get a good value for my money. I appreciate good reviewers and glad to know you are one of them!
  • Mottley420 Mar 5, 2012 @ 9:21 pm | delete
Great lens, Amazon is the best, they hook their customers up. Here is my lens about starting up an aStore. http://www.squidoo.com/amazon-store-for-beginners

    Feedback would be awesome.
  • wordstock Feb 21, 2012 @ 11:59 pm | delete
I read Amazon reviews and find that many of my decisions, not only on books but all their products, depend on the reviews. It's nice to know that there are real people out there who share their thoughts and experiences.
  • poddys Feb 21, 2012 @ 3:36 pm | delete
I wish I had time to read more, but it seems that writing takes up most of my time these days - shame more people don't read my works, but oh well, I enjoy writing them :) I am a Senior Reviewer with Trip Adviser. Not quite in the same league of course, but fun to do. Excellent description and content. Blessed.
  • CountrySunshine Feb 17, 2012 @ 7:56 pm | delete
I purchase from Amazon quite a bit, but never thought of writing reviews. This is an interesting topic, and I plan to look into it. Thank you for the tips!
  • LewesDE Feb 17, 2012 @ 1:27 pm | delete
I love this lens! please make more.
  • nancycarol Jan 8, 2012 @ 10:53 pm | delete
I love reading and have three large bookshelves filled with books to attest to my addiction. I am not a electronic reader fan, because I truly love the feel and smell of books. You can't get that from a Kindle. I have days when I don't feel inspired to write, and those are the days I read. Soon something I come across inspires me to write once again, and off i go. I could not be a reviewer for this reason, because I have a stack of books right now that have been waiting for me since Christmas. One of these days when inspiration is lacking.....
  • kiwinana71 Dec 30, 2011 @ 8:35 pm | delete
Nice lens, you are the first person I have come across reviewing books for Amazon, I love reading, but since I have been a lens-master on Squidoo I do not find much time for reading. Thanks for sharing. Blessed
  • baby-strollers Dec 18, 2011 @ 6:35 pm | delete
it's a cool idea for sure!
  • franstan Aug 14, 2011 @ 8:31 pm | delete
Thanks for letting me know about this venue. I am an avid reader and this adds to my incentive.
  • RenaissanceWoman2010 Aug 12, 2011 @ 12:32 pm | delete
Reading is my greatest passion, so I am thinking about getting more involved in writing book reviews. I really did not know anything about Amazon's book review options, so this was a very useful lens. Thank you!
  • JeanJohnson Jul 1, 2011 @ 10:42 pm | delete
I enjoyed reading this lens, it's a fantastic idea, never thought about it before. Thank you for this lens.
  • Spook May 28, 2011 @ 1:07 pm | delete
Sounds interesting but I tend to read the same old books over and over again. Don't really like the new stuff.
  • grandmamarilyn May 24, 2011 @ 12:44 pm | delete
My whole family would love to do the book review thing. My husband and mother-in-law go through books like they were water. My daughter and granddaughter love reading books. Then that leaves me. I love to read books also. I need to look into this.
  • Margo_Arrowsmith Mar 17, 2011 @ 9:18 pm | delete
I had no idea. This is neat. I have done reviews here and enjoy it.
  • ChrissLJ Mar 6, 2011 @ 12:33 am | delete
Hmmm, I love reviewing books on Bibliocommons so might have to switch over to Amazon. I love receiving free books.
  • ajgodinho Dec 31, 2010 @ 5:32 pm | delete
Wow, congrats on being one of the top 100 Amazon reviewers and sharing your knowledge here. Happy New Year! **Blessed by a Squid-Angel**

  • NHgal Dec 26, 2010 @ 10:33 am | delete
Congratulations on being in Amazon's top 100 reviewers. Very inspiring. 24 hour days just aren't long enough to do all the things I want to do or read......
  • puzzlemaker Nov 29, 2010 @ 5:20 pm | delete
Thank you for your contributions to Amazon. I always read reviews and now want to read the Making Peace with the Things in Your Life. I can use all the help I can get in that area.
  • makingamark Nov 23, 2010 @ 10:40 am | delete
    Ace lens! Liked and favourited.

I also get sent books to review, although not yet a top 100 Amazon reviewer and I can honestly say it's one of the least looked for and most rewarding aspects of my being a long time book lover who wants to share them with others!
  • MarkUpshaw Oct 26, 2010 @ 4:49 pm | delete
I have reviewed books on Amazon because I use others reviews to determine whether or not I should invest in a book. Too many people write sweeping reviews of how wonderful a book is when they have not finished the book. It can be misleading.
  • JJNW Oct 9, 2010 @ 12:42 pm | delete
    * Blessed by a SquidAngel * for being very interesting and well thought-out. I always wondered what prompted people to write those reviews. I was thinking that is also a good way to establish yourself as a book or product "expert." Nice job!
  • RebeccaE Sep 26, 2010 @ 7:58 pm | delete
this is a great idea, and I think I shall do it.
  • skiesgreen May 1, 2010 @ 6:50 pm | delete

I love books and I also love Amazon! They have excellent international shipping service. It's expensive, but it's GOOD.
I do review books, but no where near what YOU do! Fascinating lens.

  • WindyWinters Mar 14, 2010 @ 3:15 am | delete
Congratulations on LOTD. I read mostly biographies and self-help books. I refer to the book reviews often and include them on my lenses. Thank you for your helpful information on being an amazon book reviewer. Keep up the good work!

I am truly amazed at your output, and making great lenses like this as well. 5* congratulations on making LOTD
  • BigGirlBlue Mar 13, 2010 @ 3:54 pm | delete
I read a lot but not nearly as much as I would like. I have about 200 reviews on Amazon and am in the 3800 ranking which isn't as awesome as top 100 but still not bad.
  • jnorth Mar 12, 2010 @ 2:24 pm | delete
Congratulations on making the top 100.
I always check the reviews before I buy, it helps to save you from wasting your money on an inferior product.
  • SPhilbrick Mar 12, 2010 @ 11:10 am | delete
Great lens covering Amazon review. I've thought of doing it myself but like anything you really need to put thought and time into it to do it justice. Appreciate the information!
  • Mar 12, 2010 @ 4:47 am | delete
Very good information. Normally when I buy stuff online, I always read the comments/reviews people have left. So, this is definitely a good site for people to read to actually see how they should be reviewing something. If you are going to take the time to write a review, you should do it right, huh? Keep up the good work.
  • emmalarkins Mar 11, 2010 @ 8:31 pm | delete
Congrats on making LOTD! Keep up the good work!

    Congratulations on LotD.

good lens, I do appreciate the book reviews on amazon even though I normally stick to my favourite authors all the time.
  • poppy2009 Mar 11, 2010 @ 5:53 am | delete
I think this is a fantastic lens. I just recently had a baby and I've been thinking about getting back into my old hobbies again to help out with the humdrum of everyday life as a stay at home mother. Reading is something that I have enjoyed since childhood and I often read the reviews on Amazon. I will definitley post a review of the next book I read.
    Thanks

Congratulations on your LOTD!!!! How awesome! :) This is a neat idea, but I'm not able to read enough to do this (lack of time). It took me 10 months to read Lord of the Rings: Return of the King and 1 1/2 years to read Eragon 3: Brisinger (sp?). I don't think I qualify as an active reader! lol!!! Great lens. Blessed by an Angel.

Thanks for shining some light on the other side of reviewing. I often rate Amazon reviews as "helpful" and wonder who's on the other end and whether or not they care. Obviously they do! Congratulations on LOTD.

Nice lens, it is well done and interesting to read from a reviewer. I check Amazon Customer Reviews for almost every purchase I make. (Well at least for any purchase that a review might make a difference.) There's nothing like a real person's point of view. Blessed by a SquidAngel.
  • vallain Dec 22, 2009 @ 7:40 am | delete
Thank you, Stazjia! This is my first Blessed By An Angel experience. I'm so happy that you liked the lens.
  • Stazjia Dec 22, 2009 @ 4:14 am | delete
I read all the time. In fact, I can't bear it if I don't have several books waiting for me to read them. I've never regularly put reviews on Amazon, though. Perhaps I'll start doing that. Interesting lens, blessed by an Angel.
