How to host your audio and video on Amazon S3

Tips and tools for controlling your own video and audio with your Amazon S3 account and how to make an easy player you can put anywhere on the web.

What is Amazon S3 Storage?

Save bandwidth and control your own content by using Amazon S3 for storage.

Amazon S3 is where all major and many small sites feed store their bandwith-hogging video and audio files to serve through their sites. Most people in-the-know don't serve big videos or audios from their own hosting or servers.

Amazon lets you use their massive network of servers for pennies and only when people view or listen to your stuff. It is faster and far more reliable than serving high-bandwidth video content from your own site.

Amazon S3 accounts are free to set up. You are billed a very small amount for the amount of video and audio (or any other files) you serve. In other words, you just pay for the bandwidth you use.

The problem with Amazon S3 storage is average people have a hard time learning to use it with the controls Amazon gives you.

This lens should help you to understand the Amazon S3 network service and how to use great 3rd party tools to help you create easy audio and video players and S3 itself without being a geek.
