Vintage and Antique American Clocks
The majority of the earliest American clockmakers are thought to be settlers from Europe. An immigrant named William Davis is noted as one of the early pioneers of clock making in America. By the late 17th century, many skilled artisans were attracted towards making high-quality American clocks. Most American clockmakers set up their shops in wealthy and densely populated areas, such as Boston and Philadelphia. Not long after, they started branching out to other locations including Rhode Islands, Connecticut, Maryland, and New York. Most of the clocks made at this time were patterned from earlier European clock designs.
