- Create/Invoke a terrifying external AND internal threat to security. Exaggeration, lying about, and distortion of the threat is how it is played. Best if the threat is amorphous and impossible to 'pin down.'
- Create an prison camp and military tribunals that are OUTSIDE of the law.
- Develop a private military that is not bound by the law of the democracy or constitution. Give them broad authority and limit accountability to law.
- Begin extraordinary internal surveillance. Turn your citizens into 'enemies' of the state.
- Infiltrate, harrass and corrupt citizens groups, political parties, interest groups. Create problems that make them 'look bad' and turn other citizens against them.
- Target key individuals. Political competitors, Rivals, opposing special interests. Eliminate, defang, discredit or absorb them.
- Terrorize or corrupt the Influential. Universities, Professors, Professionals, anyone trusted with expertise in a position to speak out or influence citizens. Publicize the fear to demonstrate power, and the necessity for it, to the public. Make them afraid to talk or do their professional job.
- Control, by any means necessary, the media. Make it YOUR propaganda machine with lies, distortions, dissimulations, defamations.
- Eliminate dissent. Ensure that citizens understand and cooperate with the tenet 'dissent equals treason' and follow through with accusations in a public and visible way. Generate distrust among groups, families, neighborhoods. Encourage informing on suspected activities or suspicious individuals. Ignore the use of this for personal vendettas, but encourage this to further terrorize civilians.
- Suspend the Rule of Law. Declare Martial Law. Create gathering hyper- or super- treaties and alliances without consultation of law and consolidate into the inner circle.

A Very Serious Turn of Legislation Events

'...ideologically based violence' means the use, planned use, or threatened use of force or violence by a group or individual to promote the group or individual's political, religious, or social beliefs...
Note that this means the "planned use of force to promote a political or social belief" would be considered an act of terrorism. This all hinges on the definition of "force," of course. Based on the loose use of logic in Washington these days, and the slippery interpretation of the meaning of words, "force" could mean:
* A grassroots campaign to barrage Congress with faxes
* A non-violent street protest
* A letter-writing campaign that deluges the Senate with too much mail
* A sit-in protest that blocks access to a business or organization
* A grassroots e-mail campaign that overloads the e-mail servers of any government department or agency
You get the idea. "Force" could be defined as practically anything. And since the "planned use of force" would be considered a criminal act of terrorism, anyone who simply thinks about a grassroots action campaign would be engaged in terrorist acts.

When my kids were small, after cleaning the carpet and then taking a shower, I was in my bathrobe, still wet, when suddenly a SWAT team of 8 men in full gear and helmets kicked in the door of my home, terrorizing me and my kids. When I demanded the reason for their 'visit' they said someone called and said they heard a baby crying! I had no babies there, just small children, and they were in the bedroom watching TV, waiting for the fresh-washed carpet to dry- they were certainly not crying, as a moment listening at the door would have told these guys, if they had cared. They, of course, had no warrant, even though they kicked the door down and destroyed it.They said, 'the place is a mess!' There was no furniture in the room. I said, 'not until your filthy boots destroyed my clean carpet!' I demanded to see their warrant, WITH THEIR GUNS POINTED AT MY HEAD. They left instead, us insecure with no useable or closeable door.
While nothing happened to me, I knew from that day on what an arbitrary law enforcement system would be like, and I have opposed it. It is unconstitutional, illegal, and it is occurring in America to innocent people.

- Knowledge is power but people are to stupid to do anything all they do is see these conspiracies and then talk about them sitting back and crying when something doesn't happen exactly how they want. Try running a country and you will find that people in general are to prone to ignorance to know the full truth, you will see that ninety percent of people are hateful, spiteful, and prone to panic at the slightest hint of adversity. The kind of people you are will always talk about how you "need to be more careful with big brother watching" and "how things are changing for the worst" but you will just sit there and type about how you just wish someone else would do something.

- I'm glad to see that somebody else is passionate about this topic, and has seen its ugly head peering in America (actually over the course of the last, oh, 60-or-so years). I recently read Naomi Wolf's book, The End of America, and recommend that you, if you haven't already, read her sequel, Give Me Liberty, which instructs the young patriot on what to do and how to reclaim his rights and futurity: I figure you might like to add that book here so that there's sunshine and hope at the end of the ride, as Wolf says in your video.
I have limited space here, so I thought I'd share that I, too, am creating a number of lenses (though I only just started) regarding what I see wrong in not only America but the World. I just began last week, so any advice is warmly welcome; you seem to know what you're doing. I intend to write up an extensive blog on the original ideologies and ideals of the foundations of this country. Thank you for being passionate, and sharing that passion.

- Hi Margaret, I am back again. Today is 8/25 and I just spent one hour watching Glenn Beck. I believe this man has a complete handle of what is coming down in relationship to our government. It is not a Democratic or Republican thing but a new revamping of our country. I believe "the powers to be", and I don't believe it is Obama himself, are trying to take over this Republic (not a Democracy) and want to restructure it from a capitalistic based government to a Socialistic/Communism country. Check out Glenn Becks Site or program.
I believe their is hope if the American people can continue to wake up and respond. The Tea-parties have been well past due. But I fear for my country. I recommend two of my sites: We The American People and Democracy vs. Republic. It will take a fight.

- This is fantastic. it is the truth. Another truth not explored here is that all of our food is contaminated with products that are poison and mind numbing. That is why people are not acting; it is not apathy.. well maybe enforced apathy.
There are people out there trying to change the world for the better. You must try and get beyond the indifference and seek them out.
We are not totally lost even though free will is being silphoned off a chip at a time.
Please people, do some research and find the anarchists of change. Everyone can do something to help even if it is to share this lens.

- Well, I disagree with just about everything on this lens ... but... as far as a lens goes and the research and work you've put in, it deserves a 5 star rating and that is what I've given it.
Like someone else said, this comment section is too small to discuss everything and there is a lot to discuss. I'm very politically minded and have come across many of the links you have given before but dislike the authors of these works, such as Noam Chomsky and Naomi Wolf.
Good work nonetheless.

- Except that your entire argument assumes only one definition of fascism. Both Hitler and Mousalinni took different approaches in its implementation. Really the only aspect all _implementations_ of fascism have in common is might-is-right, one man in power, and stay in power at all costs. The original premise of fascism was that people need to be led, the government must be strong (be able to hold its own against invaders), and everything done by the people must be for the benefit of the State (which of course is usually the dictator). I suggest you all read the Wikipedia page on fascism to fully understand exactly what fascism is; this page is absolutely full of propaganda. Fyi, quoting civilians and politicians instead of philosophers and anthropologists is part of the problem; quote specialists, not the people playing the game, _especially_ not the media. Oh, and since we have re-elections every four or eight years, it's not fascism, regardless of whether or not we like him/her.

- An excellent refutation of all that we have become as a society of lemmings ruled by the few who want to own your very soul. This is a prime example of an administration ruled by its primary need for control. It is a government not of, by and for the people. It is a government of the few and only they can benefit from it. Ms. Wolf's lens is an exceptional view of the lengths to which an administration bent on furthering its own agenda will go to achieve those goals. We have suffered as a nation domestically and internationally because of the Bush/Cheney mantra. And this has little to do with party affiliation - it is an indictment of the system we have allowed to fester instead of using our brains and our vote to clean house and start anew. Five stars is not enough for this expose on the most imperialistic of presidencies.

- Margaret, I congratulate your for doing a lens that I would have loved to have created. I recently did research on executive orders and the groundwork which they have laid for the initiation and installation of martial law. I was influenced to research this topic by a former investigative reporter who called some of these to my attention. I firmly believe that we only have a few years (or a decade or two at most) before the United States as we know it will no longer exist. I will use your lens as as a resource as I continue to research this topic. It is definitely a five star lens from me. I am going to lensroll it to my Expatriate Living" lens. Whether the solution of expatriate living will aid a person as the "New World Order" government takes shape is questionable, but it may prolong the results for some, Keep up the good work.

- While I do not agree with every viewpoint on this page the radical move toward fascism is real. And unless some miraculous changes happen fast, it is imminent. I think you have put an emmense amount of research and work into this presentation. It's so much for the mind to process and comment in just a few short sentences. I guess the scientists in your video section would say that indicates a needed "upgrade".

Considering that administrator for a university, freely admiting homophobia should cost a person responsible for student welfare their job - nothing to do with state control, but just simply not tolerating intolerance (yes I see the irony in that phrase). I refuse also to tolerate that kind of intolerance.

- The picture of the woman smiling above the man being tortured is very disturbing. Dehumanizing is so important to fascism. The man may have been a horrible person, or he may have been innocent. But even if he is horrible, he is still a human. Heck, I would worry about her even if it was an animal.

- Excellent lens and so important. I will need to come back to take it all in. There are some good site out on the Internet where other are trying to get the word out. I have two important lenses: American Civil Liberties Union and Judicial Supremacy. A lot of damage being caused by our US Court system and the ACLU isn't necessarily what you think it is. - Personally, I feel that the Patriot Act was the most draconian piece of legislation ever passed in modern America. The fact that it was passed "on the run" directly after 9/11 makes it even more heinous as it used citizen's fear to legitimize it. This lens covers the increasing right wing tendencies of America in a thorough and revealing light - well done.

- Oh my, such a serious topic here. I recently read some history of America, felt that the founders of U.S are very great. They just got the independent form UK, then went back to their home and enjoyed their original lives. The freedom are what the first generation of U.S seeked, not power. And the later generations kept on development on this base. It's really the essence why U.S can be a great country now.
Well, freedom need protection or defense. I would like to share some biometrics technologies here, such like biometric safes, biometric signature and biometric access control. Hopefully both our virture and real property are well protected.

- wahlee, I think its a mistake to think that people aren't doing anything. They're doing a LOT. They tried to get Ron Paul elected. They're helping him, Bob Barr and Chuck Baldwin with their election efforts. RP people are running for office at all levels of government, and they're doing GREAT. There are HUGE prayer groups, special groups for help from the angels. In fact, this entire summer and fall is devoted to spiritual prayer, blessings, services and all kinds of activities. People are organizing themselves into 'communities' in the event the economy collapses, a very real possibility. Mainstream media and the current powers-that-be really are burying all these activities and events, but they are going on. The BIG question is this: when push really comes to shove, WHAT WILL OUR MILITARY DO? Will it obey the Constitution or will it go along with and support Martial Law? Will the military fulfill their oaths to protect America against ALL enemies, both foreign and DOMESTIC?

aMERICANS can be very good at relishing situations when others would feel too frightened.I remember when Married with Children came out...it addressed directly all the issues that went around the world and seemed too scary.

- Deus, it isn't the jihadis who will bring fascism down on our heads. They just can't do it. To ignore all the rest of the evidence based on the position that we cannot believe the government had anything to do with 9/11 is to ignore a flood of evidence that the powers-that-be don't even bother to hide. Losing the Constitution and the Bill of Rights is just too high a price to pay for global war trying to win against those who can only use guerilla tactics. The CIA has taken out dictators and jihadis before, and could do it again, all without compromising the Constitution or our rights which are gone now. In fact, there is almost no politician out there who has kept their oath of office, neither democrat or republican. We can't afford to choose by party any longer, either party will prefer to keep these new and unconstitutional powers rather than give them up. Look at the Presidential Executive Orders and see if you want ANY dictator to take all that? We are nearly there!

- Perhaps there is some kind of financial incentive. All of those in the cult will deny this, of course, because a person's "truth" is often wherever their self-interest lies. It is the wise person who know when he lies to himself. I try to understand it, but all I can come up with is 2Thess.2:11 "And for this reason God will send them a strong delusion, that they should believe the lie." Well, there you go, just my take on it. Now go ahead and ignore, flame, or delete me. But if I have caused one soul to pause, then I am content.

I try to understand the mind of people who would rather believe the antisemitic, anti-Israel, Bush-hating conspiracy theories of Ron Paul, than accept that the Jihadis are the ones who attack us (and they have been doing so for over 1300 years). The closest answer I can come to is that Ron Paulians form a cult. They have a cult-like mindset. They make perfect sense amongst themselves, but to those of us looking in, they look crazy. Why would a person, especially an intelligent one, do this? The real reason is not always obvious, and often lies in the heart. Perhaps someone is lonely, and the cult offers instant fellowship and networking opportunities.

Thinking is usually best done based on facts, and one has to look at the facts before a factual thought process can take place.

- Alban, I'm all for ANYTHING that works. Grassroots education about the Constitution; inundating our 'representatives' about the violations; running for office at every level; protests; boycotts; prayer- there are ever increasing numbers of prayer groups devoted to this issue. We have only a very short time to make every attempt- soon it will be too late. Every policing person, military and enforcement person MUST decide whether to abide by the Constitution or whether to continue to enforce the impending dictatorship.
JFK said: "Those who make peaceful revolution impossible will make violent revolution inevitable."
We want our Constitution back as a birthright, as our inheritance; without violence, to maintain what is ours, what is successful, what has worked.
EVERYONE is being called out to take their position, regardless of party, values or influence. Either for the Constitution, or against it. Our future depends on the choice we make now.

- Very impressive lens, Margaret. However, what is the solution? Is there one? What will allow each one of us here to experience peace of mind and true happiness? Is this world our home? If not, can we reasonably expect to find it here?
Looking at the horrors of Nazi-Germany as well as our present day horrors, all I can say, is this: There has to be a better way. It is enough. I am not looking for a solution here anymore. Because if any of what we see on a daily basis in this world is real and fact, we are truly screwed beyond any hope. There has to be something else.

- Well researched. All very frightening, but true. I have the interesting perspective of watching this stuff happen from australia, and talking about it to my sister in boston, and she doesn't seem to hear about half of it. I think more than anything Americans need to fight to hear the truth.

I am so SICK OF AND ANGRY AT ALL THE LIES, DECEIT, INACTION AND EVIL INTENTIONS OF OUR LEADERS!
I have sent so many email letters to my congress people that they must be sick of seeing my name. BUT I DON'T CARE BECAUSE THAT IS HOW A DEMOCRACY IS SUPPOSED TO WORK! Has anyone contacted their representatives lately and told them what you expect them to do?

- I'm not drinking the cool-aid. I think this goes a little too far. Too much to comment on in a little blurb. The media has always been anti-Bush and openly liberal. For eight years we've heard nothing but how "dumb" Bush is but you want to give him this much credit. You accuse them of creating fear, but look at all the fear propaganda on this out of focus lens.

- The Bush administration meets every single criteria for fascism that you list. It's very frightening. In addition, Bush has also intertwined government and religion as another tool, in addition to national security, to manipulate public opinion. For example: on the White House website we're encouraged to pray for Bush. Bush protects his corporate donors, the business aristocracy, through deregulation and privatization of government services at the expense of consumer protections and labor protections. There is rampant cronyism and corruption. For example: the FDA, the EPA and the current housing/credit market collapse. There's rampant disdain for intellectuals, academia and free expression. An obsession with crime and punishment: 1 in every 100 adults in the US is in prison. I could go on....

- State governments are going to have to stand up to the Federal government to take back our rights and freedoms. Support your local state representatives and senators on these issues especially the national ID card that they are trying to implement without our consent.
