Addy Walker is the only African-American American Girl doll, and represents the year 1864.
It's very appropriate that the only African-American historical American Girl doll (Addy Walker) comes from the Civil War era. A slave on a plantation in the south, after her father and brother are sold away, her mother makes a heart-wrenching decision to run away to Philadelphia with Addy, leaving her baby sister behind.
It opened up a new world for Addy, but touched her life with so much heartache for loved ones missing from her life. As the Civil War is also one of the historical eras that I enjoy learning about, I believe Addy may be the next American Girl doll that I add to my collection.
