American Girl of the Year History 

This is a picture of my daughter and her friends collection of American Girls. Most of the dolls are the historical characters but Girl of the Year 2006 Jess is there too. Jess and her accessories were very popular when it was her turn for Girl of the Year!

How did the idea for American Girl Doll of the Year start? The historical American Girl range was becoming very popular. Girls started asking for a modern day American Girl doll to read about and to add to their collection of historical dolls. So American Girl added Girl of the Year Kailey to the collection in 2001.

Each year there is a new American Girl doll and she will only be available to buy new for one year. The she is 'retired'

Each American Girl doll of the year has her own range of exclusive accessories. These are also only available for the year and some have been extremely popular such as the scooter produced for American Girl of the Year Jess.

American Girl Nicki 

American Girl Nicki Fleming just loves animals. She has her own beloved dog Sprocket, but has to face the fact that one day he will no longer be hers when he is placed as an assistance dog with a person with special needs.

Nicki always things of others. Her best friends Kris and Beca just can't seem to get along - can she help them to put their differences aside?

Nicki was American Girl of the year for 2007.

American Girl Jess McConnell is perhaps the most adventurous of the Girl's of the Year. Her parents are archeologists and she shares their passion for discovery.

Jess is excited that she will spend five months in Belize with her parents at an archeological dig. She has to leave behind her older brother and sister but she is more than ready for the adventure.

I actually own a boxed Jess American Girl - just waiting for the right time to either sell her or give in to temptation and actually open the box myself!

Marisol lives in Chigaco and she loves to dance. Her favorite dance style is Mexican folk dance but she is trying other styles. She tries some ballet and tap too. But she really doesn't want to learn ballet as she finds it so difficult. Will she believe in her new teacher who tells her that ballet is the basis of all dance, so to truly be the best at any form of dance, she should study the art of ballet.

Marisol is devastated when her parents tell her that they are all moving to the suburbs. What is she going to do without her dance studio?
