All American Hero
Who are your heroes? What makes someone a great American hero? Is a hero the one with the most popularity or power? The most money? Or does heroism mean something more?
Many of the heroes of today are similar to the famous, and not so famous, ones throughout history. But, in many ways, there are several differences, too. So what are the similarities? What are the differences? Are the heroes in pictures and movies REAL? Are their qualities similar to people in real life?

Definition Of A Hero
A man (or woman) admired for his (or her) achievements and noble qualities. One who shows great courage

Heroes In American History
Many of the heroes in American history are known for their courage when the odds were stacked highly against them. Great men like Christopher Columbus or George Washington, or women such as Sacajawea and Eleanor Roosevelt, have changed the world forever by doing some pretty extraordinary things.Their actions - being adventurous or courageous, or by simply having outstanding morals and ethics, have changed the course of history for a lot of people. They went above and beyond the "call of duty". They made the conscious decision to keep fighting the opposition in the face of adversity.
Heroes Today
The heroes today who are honored and respected for their courage are very similar to the American heroes in history. Many people in professions such as protective services (policemen, firemen, etc) and soldiers are looked at as being our heroes today. These brave men and women are awe-inspiring examples to anyone who comes in contact with them.
Regretfully, though, our modern society has redefined it a bit, and heroism has also come to mean "being popular". Many favored sports figures, music stars, and popular actors have become the heroes today. It's time to change the hero role back to it's intended meaning. To recognize TRUE American heroes for their service, dedication, and love of their country and fellow men.

American Heroes
Although a true American hero can be a very rare and precious find, there are thousands of men and women who are heroes in our every day walks of life. A true American hero will serve, protect, and honor not only themself, but family and country, as well. No matter when or where they're from, they will always be an amazing example to the people of today - and for the generations to come. Please visit the American Heroes below and express your support for their efforts.
Unsung Heroes
More often than not, the greatest American heroes are the unnamed ones. The ones who are not focused and recognized in the public spotlight, and rather unknown to the majority of the world. Oftentimes, they are parents or other loved ones, favored teachers, or other mentors in a person's life. Although their good deeds have often gone unnoticed by the rest of the world, they touch us individually and make us each a better person.
