Simple Amigurumi Owl Pattern

How to crochet an Owl Amigurumi?

One of the first patterns I designed was this Simple Amigurumi Owl pattern.

Definition of Amigurumi: Crocheted in the round

I designed this simple amigurmi pattern with little sewing up as possible. In fact there is only One seam.

You can add whatever details you'd like to make this owl YOURS.

I hot glued google eyes, little crochet wings, crocheted talons and [because I had it at the time] a maple leaf nose. (I now add a felt nose)

Pattern First appeared on my blog and is also posted on CrochetMe.com.

If you need to have this little guy crocheted for you, visit my talented friend Alisha at Kawaii Crochet.com
Important!

Pattern Notes

Purchase Your Supplies

Yarn, Hook, Fiber Fill

You'll need some scraps of Each color you will be using as well as a G crochet hook.
(In the picture I used Sage Red Heart 4ply acrylic Yarn. ) If you will be crocheting the wings, talons, and eyes you will need more.

For an Owl exactly like that in the picture:
* Sage Yarn
* Chocolate Yarn [red heart also has an eco cotton yarn if you don't like acrylic]
* Fiber Fill
* Tapestry Needle
* Google Eyes [you can also use Safety eyes - I recommend SunCatcher Eyes]
* Hot Glue/gun
* Felt (nose)

    I'm having trouble with the talons. You ch 3, and then 1hdc and 1sc (4x) in the 3rd ch from hook? It doesn't look right.
  • MomwithAHook May 14, 2012 @ 2:22 am | delete
    I know when I rewrote this I had problems following along - so please accept my apologies. You will make a chain of 3, Now, in the third chain from the hook you will be making 1hdc and 1sc (first talon made). For the next talon, you'll chain 3 and make a 1hdc and 1sc in 3rd chain. (second talon made) You'll repeat this patten two more times for a total of 4 talons.

    Do let me know if this makes more sense - if not I'll make a chart for you.

    I love this pattern, just one question.

    Row 17 confuses me. How many stitches should be in that row at the end of the row?

    Thanks,

    Kate
  • MomwithAHook Jul 31, 2011 @ 12:49 pm | delete
    You should have a total of 11 stitches. [6 total single crochets and 5 total decreases]
    Let me know if you still need help - I can make a quick one up and take more photos along the way.

    I love, love, love this lens. I used to be able to "hook a loop," but I have never been able to actually create something. This lens inspires me to try again and maybe teach my eight-year-old. Good job!
  • MomwithAHook Apr 15, 2011 @ 3:33 am | delete
    I encourage you to take a local class or find a volunteer to teach you along with your daughter. If you know the single crochet stitch, you can make this owl. Good luck. Thanks for stopping by.
