Amika Vs. Chi? Which is the better flat iron?

Straightening your own hair is difficult enough especially if you have ethnic, thick, or very tight curly hair. Most of the women in my family have beautiful thick, ethnic, spirally curly type hair before using a straightening perm. When the Chi became popular and we were lucky enough to be able to afford one of these amazing flat irons, we thought it was a God send. It got hot and stayed hot with it's ceramic plates and smoothly straightened out the locks with ease. Still the best way to get it at it's straightest was by having some one else do it for you, until... I saw my cousin straighten her own hair using the less well known Amika using no oil or any products and her hair went from tight tendril thick and poofy to sleek, shiny, and swinging that wasn't weighed down and had lots of body. As most of you know that is almost unheard of with ethnic hair especially without using expensive products.

So now the question is

I am japanese and have pretty thick wavy frizzy hair.i just got amika and it works great on my hair. It became shiny smooth like hair commercial.
Amika uses ceramic to produce negative ion and it makes hair shine and get rid of frizz.i am glad that i found amika.

I am a hair stylist. I have never owned a chi, but I have used one. I personally feel they are both very good irons. I find that my Amika makes my hair hold a straighten longer. I think Chi s are good for people with thin, or uncurly hair. For curly, unruly or thick hair, deff. an amika.

the amika is GREAT! it works for straight styles, curls, volume, waves, and more! it doesnt damage your hair to much , unlike the chi. it makes your hair really nice and shiny(: it gets rid of frizz and i just LOVE IT! dont know what i would do without it! i always had a chi and i thought it was the best but then i tried the amika and said goodbye to my chi !

Chi definitely. The dumb guy at the mall totally conned my friend into buying one of his crap Amika's. He told me that my hair looked horrible because I don't use his iron. And he lied about the Amika being the only one with solid ceramic plates..Sorry, I don't buy from people who need to lie to sell their products.
