Wonderful lens! I've passed up many opportunities to receive bread starter. I think when my kids get a bit older and can do all the work we may come back to this page and follow your excellent directions. Thank you! Blessed and liked.

Such a wonderful tradition - Amish Friendship Bread. I had a starter some years ago. Maybe I need to start it all over again!

I ran across this Amish Friendship Bread a number of years back, and had the recipe for a long time and now I can't find it. Thanks for sharing, and I "liked, pinned and blessed" this lens.

Years ago I was given one of these Amish Friendship Bread starters. I'd nearly forgotten about how great the freshly baked loaves tasted until I read your lens. Thank you!

'Breaking bread' together, or in this case baking and sharing, has got to be the best way to bond with people. What a fantastic idea! Wouldn't it be great if Amish Friendship Bread could solve many problems we face in the world today?
I remember my mother making Ginger Beer on a similar idea - make the starter and split in two before preparing for bottling. We had some of the best Ginger Beer in town....lol

I made the sweet version over and over until I was tired of it, so I let my starter go. Now I think I am ready to try it again. I appreciate the link for the non-sweet starter. Great lens!

Nice lens. When I was young, my mother received something similar to this from a neighbor. She followed all instructions to the end. She baked it. We ate it. It was good. Thanks for the memories.

I froze some of the starter as an experiment when I couldn't be bothered finding people to give it to. It will be interesting to see what happens when I make bread from it.
