Lensmaking Challenge #8: A Favorite Amusement Destination

Amusement Destination

As part of the Giant Squid Summer School, participating Giants receive a specific weekly lensmaking challenge. They have a week to work on the lens, and then post it below to "turn in" their homework and show that it's done.

The final weekly assignment is to capture those amusement park memories and do a lens on your favorite summer entertainment destination. Think along the lines of Yosemite, the neighborhood pool, Coney Island, Disneyland, Busch Gardens or even your local carnival. Be sure to include the best food and lots of pictures too.

Here's what the Giant Squid Summer School Class of 2009 came up with!

I have to add this. I'm going through all these great lenses and I have seen something very strange. Tomorrow it might not be this way, but Megan our chief editor is on the profile of many lensmasters today, including myself. Instead of our avatars. Something strange is going on here!

This was fun! Noah's Ark is now following me on Twitter. Do you think they will send me free tickets for the review?

Wow! 52 minutes late in MY time zone, but I am sure it is STILL Aug 7 somewhere!!!

This was SO cool! We went to a small beach town (Long Beach, Washington). I called the tourist office and talked to the NICEST lady who set us up with 2 free hotel nights (for our family) and 3 FABULOUS meals (for my husband and I).

I LOVE being referred to as a "travel writer" and was treated royally! BEST food of my life. I will get several lenses out of this assignment!!!

Thanks for planning this right before my husband had vacation time - Otherwise, I would have never had the nerve to call the office and ask what they could do for me.

    LOVED it!

Congrats to everyone!!!! This has been a great experience and I am keeping copies of ALL the lessons.

Thanks for getting me out of my comfort zone. I have really enjoyed creating these last eight lenses and am adding handing in my final assignment - The Akron Zoo.

Thanks to Seth, Robin, and Bonnie for all the tips in Squidoo summer school. I learned a lot. As far as my summer vacation, I'll be going to Cape May for a week to visit my brother. Hope you all enjoy the rest of your summer!

Ah, a chance to share the joys of Nantasket Beach and Paragon Park in Hull, Massachusetts - just south of Boston and a lot closer than Cape Cod or the Islands.

I just added my Pendleton Farmers Market lens and know that it is too late for the 2nd session of RM but I hope it is ok that I added. We don't get out of town much so this is one of my summer destinations.

P.S. I really had a lot of fun being able to code in various destination spots in the Monterey Area on the Google Map module. This may be something that people who are doing vacation lenses know, but I just discovered.

I had a lot of fun sharing our recent adventures and favorite places to go with our Escape to the California Coast.

Thought about doing a lens on our favorite local spot, but decided like spirituality that it might be better to NOT advertise it.

Well, this was lots of fun! When is the cap and gown photo shoot? Can't wait to get my diploma you all. Oh, school's out for the summer! Where am I going -- nope, not Disneyworld -- but the Jacksonville Zoo!
