Distinctive Design

Amy Butler fabric collection is the most distinctive designer fabrics I've ever seen. She designs for Rowan fabrics. The prints she creates are simple, yet very sophisticated with vibrant colors and intriguing patterns. Modern? Vintage? I will let you decide when you finish browsing.

Most of Amy Butler's fabrics are 100% cotton and are just perfect for crib and kids' bedding, home decor, quilting and fashion. Amy Butler originally used her design for handbags and purses only. Her design is inspired by her surroundings: friends, family, nature, and the rich textures of everyday life. Hence its simplicity, variety and harmony.

This lens will showcase Amy Butler crib sets that I had the privilege to make, but will also feature various Amy Butler fabric series and products made out of them. Finally, resources will be listed for those interested in the fabric and/or the bedding.

Lotus Crib Set

Fabric by Amy Butler

Lotus is a collection of fabric with exotic designs. It is rich with bold colors and patterns. Very unique. For this crib set I used Clay temple garland fabric and Grey wall flower fabric to make the bumper. Full moon polka dots to make the bumper ruffle and ties. Mustard oxford stripe to make the gathered dust ruffle.
The comforter is reversible and piped also in Grey wall flower.
I enjoyed working with such bright and vibrant fabric and the crib set was so unique once complete.
Amy Butler fabrics are wonderful when combined together. The ensemble is just a burst of rich colors, harmonious patterns that you either absolutely love or ... not.
The print fabrics are also great when used with coordinate solid prints as shown on the lens photo above. The vibrant red piping only exaggerates the beauty of the Morning Glory floral material used as main fabric on both the bumper and the comforter.

Overview of the Midwest Modern Collections

Midwest Modern and Midwest Modern II

This is another quilting weight collection from Amy Butler. Except that exceptionally beautiful, this collection is hard to describe, cannot be described. You have to see it, have it, breath it, wear it... love it.

The colors are bold and shy, warm and cold, intense and tender, sober and subtle. The collection gives a fresh and spicy spin on heartland style by emphasizing simplicity and integrity. Amy Butler is passionate about reinventing vintage looks, and taking joy in the homemade. Her approach-drawing its inspiration from her natural surrounding and the people she is in touch with -is stylishly organic and shines through the whole Midwest Modern collection.

The first collection Midwest Modern was followed by the second which uses the same prints but with different colors.

Park Fountains: available in fuchsia, brown, gold, yellow, green...

Garden Maze: available in grey, tan, pink, olive, green, lime, brown...

Optic Blossom: available in ice, linen, olive, gold...

Floating Buds: available in linen, sage, ivory...

Midwest Modern Crib Set

I used the Floating Buds print to make the bumper and the fitted sheet with. The tailored dust ruffle is made using the Fresh Poppies print.
I also made a diaper stacker to match.
Both fabrics have bright pink prints on an ivory background. The set has a very feminine and soothing look.
