An Epic Story Of Love

Well the first time that I met my husband was a church, cute I know, he was just standing the foyer and one of my friends and her boyfriend at the time and I went up to him and my genius of a friend said "Hi I'm Alyssa this is Jeff and this is Talia you guys should get married" I kid you not this totally happened! Then she left me there talking to him by myself%u2026thanks. This kid was wearing a Hawaiian shirt, different print Hawaiian board shorts and crocs (before they became a big thing) oh boy what had she gotten me into. Well it turns out that he had just moved back from Hawaii because his sister got it in an accident, then he begins to tell my how she hit her head and that she now has brain damage oh and did I mention that she was standing right behind him the whole time%u2026 I was mortified and excused myself when he stopped rambling.

Fast forward past the flirting during kid's church and volunteering in the kitchen at the camp he was an intern at to a month or so before senior prom. I went to the kitchen found him doing dishes or whatever he was doing and asked him if he would go to my prom with me as he didn't go to my school. He seriously looked at me and said no. That punk let me get a good ten feet away before saying "just kidding sure I'll go with you". Little fart knocker. And then he asked me to dinner so in his mind he asked me out first. Well I guess technically he did but to be honest he probably wouldn't have if I hadn't initiated it. About a week later we went out, I picked him up in my beater because he didn't have a license yet, don't worry he got it a couple months later and I made him drive me around everywhere.

We went to Taboo a sushi bar, I hate sushi, and he was embarrassed. I think I got some chicken dish though and we had some casual conversation and then met some friends at the Drive in. We watched Meet the Robinsons and Wild Hogs and I drove him home. When we got back to camp and I'm sure that he will deny this to no end but I definitely kissed him first. I had wanted to do that for a long time.

After we had been dating a year and a half or so he told me that he was thinking about the joining the army, which I thought would pretty much be the end of us. This devastated me but there was no way to talk him out of it. He is much more of a logical thinker where as I am just all kinds of emotional I make decisions based on feelings; he makes them based on logic. Then he was gone.

About 5 days in I believe he called me a total wreck he had somehow sneaked out and called me saying Talia I don't know how I did this to you, to us. I am so sorry I didn't realize what I was getting myself into I am so sorry. Then he had to go because someone was coming. A few minutes later he called me back saying if I break my knee they will have to send me home I am going to get someone to help me out. I just don't know what to do I hate it here and after I talked him out of that he had to go again and hung up. Another few minutes passed and he called me back. Talia would you marry me? To me it was more of a question like WOULD you marry me and I said sure I'd marry you. He said no I mean will you marry me? Oh my gosh yes!

The rest of his time there flew (for me anyways) I was planning a wedding in 3 months I wanted something small with close friends and family. My family had another idea there was about 300 people at our wedding. We got married on his Christmas Exodus (his two week break during boot camp) let's just say things were hectic. We got the rings just ONE HOUR before we said our vows. At my wedding me and my girls did a dance

How are things now? You ask. Well they are better than ever we live in Kansas (I know, I know not exactly Hollywood) but it is home...for now. We have a beautiful baby girl Leila born in March and we couldn't be happier. Deployment is coming up and I am dreading it however I am enjoying every minute I have with my soldier. My life may be different than I had imagined it and I may not have planned everything this way (namely the Military factor) but you know I am alright I have made myself a new family and can now call myself a mother and a wife, and this is more than I could ever have asked for.

To keep me busy this deployment (not that Leila does not keep me busy enough) me and my best friend started a little business as we like to think that we are pretty creative and slightly talented. So far i have not sold anything but it is keeping me plenty busy, and it is something that i definitely enjoy doing.
