Ananda Khalsa work is inspired by Asian art ...
Ananda Khalsa draws inspiration from Asian art, natural forms and cultural symbolism. Her painted images are rich in symbolic meaning. In Japan, the plum blossom represents rebirth and renewal, and the koi fish is a symbol of strength and courage. Each of Khalsa's jewelry pieces contains an original painting on paper.
She sets the painting behind hand-ground glass into fine and sterling silver. Because she paints each piece individually, they are all unique with slight variations. She works with both silver and high karat gold, and often finishes her jewelry with semiprecious stones. --The Artful Home

Ananda Khalsa biographical info
Ananda Khalsa was born in 1976 in Tillson, New York, and raised in western Massachusetts. Her parents are both talented artists, and always encouraged her to be creative. She's been passionate about art as long as she can remember, growing up painting and drawing.
She moved to Boulder, CO in 1995, and took her first metalsmithing class in 2002. She was instantly obsessed with working in metal, and it came very naturally to her. After taking a few more classes, she began acquiring tools to set up a studio.
Although she's taken some basic jewelry courses, the majority of her experience has been learning in her own studio. Because she is basically self-taught has helped her to develop a style and technique that is truly her own.
Since beginning to show her work in 2004, she has been honored to be included in many fine galleries nationwide. The response from buyers and retail customers has been genuinely enthusiastic!!!

More about Ananda Khalsa

My work is inspired by Asian art and natural forms, and I strive to maintain a quiet grace in each of my paintings. It is my hope to create jewelry with clean lines and simple elegance, while maintaining evidence of the human hand.
Throughout time, cultures from all over the world have used plant and animal forms to symbolize important aspects of their lives. My work is especially influenced by these images, and I love knowing that the significance of each subject goes far beyond its' aesthetic value.
Ananda draws inspiration from Asian art, natural forms, and the coool sleekness of metal. Each of her pieces contains an original painting on paper which is set behind hand ground glass in fine and sterling silver. Because she paints each piece indiviually, they are all unique due to slight variations. Much of her work is accented with the highest quality semiperecious stones and/or high karat gold.
