My Review Of The Anatomy of Peace
Fantastic book. The Anatomy of Peace is the prequel (or back story) The Arbinger Institute's Leadership and Self-Deception. This book takes the concepts introduced in the first book and then amplifies and expands upon them.
The main concept in this book is this: when you interact with other people, is your heart at war with them or at peace with them.
A heart at war will create a bad response in the other person.
A heart at peace tends to engender peaceful responses from the other person.
They authors contend that it's not really our words and behaviors that get us in trouble with others. Rather, it is the condition of our heart. They say that other people can clearly read the condition of our heart as we interact.
To learn more about this phenomenal concept, buy this book!
Key Quotes From The Book
"I become an agent of change only to the degree that I begin to live to help things go right rather than simply to correct things that are going wrong."
"Seeing an equal person as an inferior object is an act of violence."
"...when our hearts are at war, we can't see clearly. We give ourselves the best opportunity to make clear-minded decisions only to the extent that our hearts are at peace."
