Yes, you read it right. There are some cases that ordinary acne treatment will not work as the situation is already severe. On these cases, simple washing of the face with soap and clean water will not usually work. One severe type of acne is called acne conglobata. Acne conglobata could be dangerous since it does not only cause physical pain on the part of the affected person but some serious psychological effects as well. This type of acne is formed when there is a network of dead skin cell infection grouped together making serious problems on one's face. And this is definitely not the usual acne that you know and this type is really painful.

Another severe type is called acne fulminans. Acne fulminans could appear similar with acne conglobata but is characterized to be a sudden outbreak. It causes deep scars which need special medical attention.
