San Diego anchorman Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) rules the 1970s San Diego TV network together with his band of faithful sidekicks in the Channel 4 News Team. It's all scotch, jazz flute and hair perfection for Ron until the feisty Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate) bursts onto the scene and steals his glory. From there onwards, Ron tries to compete against his new colleague.

Ron Burgundy

"Stay Classy, San Diego!"

Ron Burgundy is the most successful TV anchorman in San Diego. His hair is perfect, he has a colossal moustache and he exists on a diet of scotch. He shares his life with his best friend, a dog named Baxter ("Oh, Baxter, you are my little gentleman. I'll take you to foggy London town 'cause you are my little gentleman"). His ideal evening involves playing a little jazz flute down at his local club.

Champ Kind

"Whammy!"

Sportscaster Champion Kind (David Koechner) is a key member of the testosterone-heavy Channel 4 News Team. He is rarely seen without his hat and drinks like a fish. He also has a crush on Ron Burgundy. Champ can become extremely aggressive in certain situations.

Brian Fantana

"They've done studies, you know. 60% of the time, it works every time."

Brian Fantana (Paul Judd) considers himself to be a ladies man and prides himself as being the most stylish member of the group. He is an advocate of the cologne 'Sex Panther' which is made from 'bits of real panther' and smells like gasoline. Fantana has a nickname for his penis, "the Octagon". His testes are named "James Westphal" and "Dr. Kenneth Noisewater".

Brick Tamland

"I Love Lamp"

The good-natured weatherman, Brick Tamland (Steve Carell) has an IQ of 48. He is simple in his needs and happy to go along with the crowd. Brick lists his horoscope sign as being 'the cat with the yarn'.

No one is quite sure where Brick came from. He simply turned up at the studio one day in a perfect suit and said "I want to talk about the clouds".

Veronica Corningstone

"Mr. Burgundy, you are acting like a baby"

Veronica (Christina Applegate) has a PHD in the Philosophy of Journalistic Perspectives and can speak 8 languages. As a female TV presenter, she has battled constant prejudice, yet is still determined to become a respected anchorwoman in her own right.

Veronica's biggest ambition is to own a 24 hour news network.
