New Android apps for smartphones and tablets

I joined Android Application Online in September 2011 to promote my SAS-related eBook apps for Android smartphones and tablets. Android, the Linux-based operating system in a growing number of smartphones and tablet, has a large number of apps, but very few related to SAS programming. If you see an app here that you'd like to install, then just click on the image, or scroll down to the Android Links.

The apps can now be downloaded from Amazon Appstore and Android Market.

Price Reductions on all platforms until 31 January 2012

Data Steps: How Do You Do This in SAS? 2.0

for Android 1.6+ phones and tablets

Download

This app, "Data Steps: How Do You Do This in SAS?", is one of a series of eBooks about SAS software programming focusing on frequently asked questions and answers, illustrated by code samples which can be sent by email directly from the app. It is designed to encourage users to contribute questions some of which will be included in future versions of the app. There are controls to select specific questions, move to the previous or next question, decrease or increase the font to suit the user's preference, and send emails requesting answers to questions not yet included in that version of the eBook.

It uses controls to select specific questions (click on the circular button next to the title), move to the previous (Pg-) or next (Pg+) question, decrease (A-) or increase (A+) the font to suit the user's preference, and send emails requesting answers to questions not yet included in that version of the eBook (Ask ?). The code samples that can be sent via email have white backgrounds, and open the email client when clicked.

The questions, with answers, included are:

  1. Introduction
  2. About the Author: Philip R Holland
  3. Carrying forward a non-missing value to following observations
  4. Separating duration data into periods
  5. Populating arrays with data values
  6. Processing a mixture of missing and non-missing values
  7. Rearranging variable values in a SAS data set
  8. Updating data with related records
  9. Reading Excel dates into SAS
  10. Selecting variables beginning with "S"

There is also an index of key words from version 2.0 onwards.

The App can be downloaded from Amazon Appstore and Android Market. It is also available through Synapsy.
