Google Android G1 Phone

T-Mobile Will Carry New Google OS Phone

The G1 Android Phone by T-Mobile has successful launched and people are going crazy over G1. It is the first smartphone the uses Googles Android operating system (great reviews). The phone features excellent web surfing as expected from Google. Android allows open source applications so applications are quickly increasing in staggering numbers. Overall, this is a great phone as expected for the Google Android G1 Phone.

Using the fast 3G and EDGE network the G1 Android phone can quickly access websites. With Google releasing this software the iPhone has some stiff competition and powerful web browsing smart phones will be here to stay.

The G1 phone was released on October 22nd in the US for $179 with a 2-year contract. It will be released in Europe in November. The Cell Phone promises to bring a wider audience to using the new technology of smart phones specifically Google Android and T-Mobile users for the G1 phone.

Google Android G1 Phone Review

G1 Phone Actual User Feedback

The informationweek.com blog released the very first review of the G1 Phone and here's an exclusive look at what a member of the Android Community had to say:

The Pro's:
* It is very light considering what's inside.
* The device is fairly quick to start up compared to other HTC devices.
* There are already a lot of useful apps to download from the Android Market, including a free ringtone maker.
* The slide-out keyboard works well and doesn't have a flimsy feel to it.
* The speaker is relatively loud compared to other HTC devices.
* The Android Market works just as well as the iPhone's App Store.
* The earpiece is fairly clear when making and receiving calls, you hear absolutely no static.

The Con's:
* No virtual QWERTY keyboard included.
* There is no folder system like that found on other HTC devices: finding your files requires you to search around in one of the various programs associated with the file type you're trying to view.
* The battery charger makes the bottom of the phone extremely hot.
* The G1 has a big memory leak somewhere, and has to be restarted in order to get it running smoothly again.
* Video playback is very limited. The G1 would not play .mpg or .wmv files which are pretty much the standard when it comes to videos downloaded off the net.
* The phone doesn't run as smoothly as you would think, programs sometimes stutter trying to start up.

Compare G1 versus iPhone

Which is better?

Both G1 and the iPhone are no doubt the top phones. The iphone has already proven to be a great phone besides the problems such as dropped calls and other minor problems it is a great phone and has proven to be successful in the market.

The question is will the G1 phone compare?
Both phones offer 3G and EDGE for the fastest web browsing of any current phones. Their touch screen capabilities are very similar as well.

Google has proven to be the top search engine and internet based company by far. Google continues to create great user friendly products including Gmail, blogger and many other web applications they also have great map software that will be included on the G1 Phone.

There new web browser "Chrome" is an exceptional browser proving that they can create top quality web software.

I have high expectations for Google's Android Operating System. G1 will definitely have great web capabilities. That may be superior to the iPhones.

As far as other features iPhone Seem to be better in the applications department, but G1 may quickly catch up with increasing popularity.

I believe the G1 will have immediate success, but the iPhone will still outsell it.

hotbrain, at 12am on February 15, 2009 predicts:

YES. It has way more features than I ever knew about! I've shown off some of what it can do on my squidoo page. It's just the perfect phone for business and fun.

InternetRider, at 5pm on November 3, 2008 predicts:

I believe that the iPhone will only outsell it because they have people that are loyal to Apple products for a long time.
I own a sidekick right now and it is about to get "Kicked to the side" for the G1, because danger didn't keep up with everyone else. But in the long run I think that phones with the Android OS will do far better than the iPhone.

JonPhillips, at 3pm on October 17, 2008 predicts:

It will depend on how well the development community clings to the platform. If there are great apps, then people will want the phone. That's going to be the key to its success.

FitnessReport, at 8pm on October 14, 2008 predicts:

It will be a good phone, I'm looking forward to it and I expect it to give iphone some competition.
