Love your piece. This has got to be my all time favorite series. I love the episode of Barney recalling the Constitution "verbatim" and and the one where Andy tries to teach Opey about charity and gets caught up explaining the "1/2 girl."

This brought back great memories. They don't make kids shows like this anymore, do they?

Always love that show. Wish Hollywood still knew how to make shows like it. Good lens, I even learned a few things.

I use to watch this program when I was a kid. Loved it then, and would love to watch re-runs with my kids now. Had no idea there were so many well known actors making appearances, I'll have to watch a little more closely next time.

Thanks for this lens. I spent many a happy evening enjoying this show with others in my family. Thanks, too, for your note about Floyd, the barber,

If I may, Floyd had a very overdrawn character that embodied a contemporary nicety: Let your customer hear (or read) his own words. In fact, that's all he did. He repeated what others said.

Barney: That guy from Mt. Pilot is a criminal.
    Floyd: A criminal, you say?
Barney: Yea, and he's having his car repaired at Gomer's, and I gotta get over there.
Floyd: Gotta get over to Gomers.

This is one of my favorite shows of all time. There's just this feeling of tranquility in every episode, like everything is going to be fine. You put a lot of interesting details in this lens. I just finished a lens on the only Christmas episode they ever created for the Andy show, "A Christmas Story".
  • poutine Oct 24, 2009 @ 5:52 pm | delete
Very well laid out lens. I love all the details that you put into this topic.

Very nice page. I see that you use Amazon. Did you know that you can link just about any of your key words and images to it? Like, Andy Griffith to his Amazon Store? He has his own Amazon store. That's cool. Take a look at this page, http://www.squidoo.com/linkamazon and then you can go back, if you like, and link each person, image, topic, and/or keyword with your Amazon affiliate code. Hope that helps. Great lens. 5 Stars. Good luck and God bless.

Excellent lens on one of my favorite shows. I watch it every chance I get and originally started watching because my mother was born in Mt. Airy, NC which is Andy's home town and the model for Mayberry. Thank you for your visit and comments on my lens. Starred and fanned.
