Angel Acres Horse Haven Rescue

Angel Acres strives to save horses bound for slaughter for human consumption. The horses we rescue are generally young, healthy, sound and ready to move onto second careers. We concentrate on Thoroughbred race horses but rescue other equine breeds as well. We strive to raise public awareness about horse slaughter, horse welfare and horses in general.

We promote the use of the term homeless horse instead of the pro slaughter term "unwanted". There are NO unwanted horses. ALL horses with the exception of wild horses were bred with human intervention (or occasionally an unlatched gate ;o) and were wanted at one time and have simply outgrown the purpose for which they were bred.

Why Billboards? Isn't a website and talking to people enough?

We chose to start the billboard campaign to raise awareness among the non horse owning general public. We chose to do it in a big way...what bigger way than billboards? The majority of our readers are usually horse people, new horse owners, folks that alerady know about horse slaughter and other folks that are in the "horse world".
