Blessed by WordCustard, an Angel on Squidoo

I take this role seriously and I aim to be transparent as an Angel. That's one reason why I created this page.

The other, of course, is to showcase YOUR lenses. :)

In my view, if a lens is worth an angel blessing, it is worth sharing. If I blessed it, either it's here or for recent blessings you can add it to the plexo. (I was an angel longer than expected and forgot to add later blessings... turns out I'm human and not divine!) :)

I will always let you know in your Guestbook if you get a blessing. I don't do fly-by, silent blessings as my own view is that it's more exciting to know about a blessing than it is to simply wonder why your lensrank is jumping about. :)

On Squidoo, as in life, some people have natural talent, some put in great effort, and for some it is a combination of both. I like to reward all three.

I try to be as fair as possible in the different cross-sections of the community that I visit. I'll be visiting familiar names along my way, but I also love to find lensmasters whose work I didn't already know. That's part of the fun. :)

If a lens is listed here, my opinion is that it deserves to be here. My guess is that you will love some of these lenses but will sometimes disagree with my selection. Hey, we're not all the same, and how boring it would be if we were!

Where are you looking for lenses?

I spend a lot of time on Squidoo and will be taking the time to explore a variety of lenses each day from new and more experienced lensmasters. I love to discover lenses that have been well written and beautifully presented, so in general I will be spending my time searching for these among the many lenses rather than responding to requests for blessings. If a lens is truly deserving of notice, you can be sure that it will be found, either by the current angel team or by another lensmaster who will let us know about it.

You rated and commented on my lens, why didn't you bless it?

Ever since I joined Squidoo, I have enjoyed visiting lenses and leaving ratings and comments on those that I like. I also act as a Squidoo Greeter and make an effort to welcome promising new lensmasters. This isn't going to change. But for a lens to achieve an angel-blessing, it has to be that extra bit special.

An angel-blessed lens will be perfectly presented without any errors such as default titles or missing introduction images, with very few typos, and will contain original content. It will either tell an engaging story or will inform and help your readers. More than that, it will have something special that showed that you spent time over it and really care about your topic. This 'something special' is different for each of us.

How can I improve my lens so that an Angel will bless it?

Seek out a critique. There is a Critique Me forum on SquidU which exists for this very purpose.

Even before you ask for help, did you help yourself? The Answer Deck on Squidoo is bursting at the seams with advice! There is a lens there for just about every topic you can think of.

Squidoo also has a number of groups, including the superb Fresh Wonders where new lensmasters can learn together with experienced lensmasters.

Why did you only bless one of my lenses?

Some people on Squidoo make consistently great lenses, and put many hours of effort into each and every one of them. However, the small team of Angels have many lenses to visit and have promised to be fair in our approach. Too much attention on one person means less time to divide up amongst the tens of thousands of other active lensmasters.

If you feel overlooked by Angels, please be patient. If your work has impressed one, she or he will no doubt return at a later time to view others that you created. Or you may be visited by a different Angel.

I appreciated the blessing, but the lens you blessed wasn't my best one!

Sometimes angel blessings take us by surprise. Maybe you had a lens you liked better, but there was something in the one the Angel blessed that they appreciated, so congratulations! Another Angel might discover your own preferred lens. We are a diverse team and all have our own preferences, which means that we can share more angel dust than we would if we had more rigid views on lens topics.

I think you are blessing TOO MANY / TOO FEW lenses!

Opinion noted :) Seriously, being an Angel on Squidoo involves making some tough choices. I am here to serve the community and not my own interests. At the same time, I have my own ideals as to what makes a blessworthy lens.

I have blessed quite a few lenses in a short space of time (all 100% deserving) in order to publish my Blessed by WordCustard page with some content already on it. I had a lot of old favourites that made this an easy task. My pace may slow a little now. Angel blessings are wonderful things and are designed to be shared, but my view is that they also should remain special.
