Biography Angelina Jolie
The DVD with the Angelina Jolie Biography
Even though this is a documentary on a female celebrity, the interviewees are almost equally male and female. The interviewees are diverse, including two Asian-American males who get a lot of air time. I wonder if this relates to Jolie's adoption of Cambodian Maddux and romantic relationship with Japanese-American Jenny Shimizu.
This work isn't afraid to mention that many of her films were flops. Still, you can tell the makers love their subject. If you think that Angelina is beautiful and provocative and admirable, then you will enjoy seeing this. It's a work clearly designed for the masses. (Can I be honest? I think Madonna is a bit jealous of her.)

Books about Angelina Jolie
Angelina Jolie's: Notes from My Travels
In 2000 award-winning actress Angelina Jolie took on a radically different role as a Goodwill Ambassador for the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR). Here are her memoirs from her journeys to Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Pakistan, Cambodia, and Ecuador, where she lived and worked and gave her heart to those who suffer the world's most shattering violence and victimization. Here are her revelations of joy and warmth amid utter destitution...compelling snapshots of courageous and inspiring people for whom survival is their daily work%u0160and candid notes from a unique pilgrimage that completely changed the actress's worldview -- and the world within herself.
Angelina is living proof of the power we all have -- every one of us -- to make a difference. I was deeply moved by her descriptions of individual refugees struggling to live with dignity and hope, and found her personal commitment to be an inspiration. Angelina's journals document her awakening as a humanitarian activist and I hope they will move readers to act. I look forward to my continued work with Angelina on behalf of the United Nations. -- Jane Goodall, Ph.D., CBE, Founder of the Jane Goodall Institute and UN Messenger of Peace
While I've always felt Angelia Jolie was a superb actress, I wondered how much of her U.N. work was due to being a publicity hound. I came across this book in a store full of African crafts and was so fascinated with it that I came home and ordered it on Amazon. This book isn't a formally written account of her travels; rather, it's a collection of her writings in a personal journal written while on various U.N. missions around the world a couple of years ago. Her writing is casual, personal, and it is very raw and honest, obviously from the heart. I now have a new admiration for Angelina and her complete dedication to this cause. As a person who lived abroad for many years and traveled extensively in the third world and Africa, I was able to relate to to the accuracy of what she noted in her comments. I found the book interesting because it was an actual blow by blow journal of her experiences, impressions, observations, and her own reactions to what she saw on various trips. Very refreshing, and also very sobering at the same time. It's well worth a read for the content alone, and reading it will make you see Angelina in a totally different light. I now count myself among her admirers and I respect her intense involvement with the U.N. She is doing just as much to draw attention to these problems as did the late, wonderful Audrey Hepburn when she served in the same capacity in the U.N., and this is quite a compliment because Audrey was so truly wonderful in her own right. Angelina is a worthy successor, no doubt about it. -- CMCM (Nevada City, CA USA)

Angelina Jolie
I give this biography three stars b/c it allows the reader to read a bit more about Angelina's childhood that is not prev. known. The author goes out of his way to make it clear to the reader that the image and the woman are two different things. To get people to go beyond the shocking headlines and judgement.
However, a great deal of this book is simply a rehash of tabloid articles. The author tries to be fair to Jolie, and is for the most part, but there is no real stucture to it, it has way too many borrowed quotes from tabloids that make up a great deal. There are some phrases and discriptions of both Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt towards the end that are rather crude and unfair. Perhaps I'm being too hard on this book but frankly I was expecting better. I purchased this book because I'm a fan of Angelina Jolie so I already know alot about her. I was hoping to get a less tabloid point of view about her life and career. Like I said it takes so much from British rags that it's hard to know what is real and what is actually from Ms. Jolie. -- Dennis Jones (New Windsor, New York)

Angelina Jolie
Tracing the actress' meteoric rise to fame, this biography looks at Angelina Jolie's early years, including her childhood growing up as Jon Voight's daughter, her crush on Dr. Spock, and how she once dreamed of becoming a funeral director. The book also addresses Jolie's eccentric behavior and bold reputation.
Did she or didn't she have a hot romance with her brother? The tattoo-sporting, bee-stung-lipped Angelina Jolie likes it with both men and women. She and her new husband, Oscar winner Billy Bob Thornton,'t get enough of it. And she especially likes it if daggers are involved. We're talkin' sex, of course, and the actress revels in revealing the most intimate details of her rough 'n' tumble life in freewheeling interviews. No wonder she's being touted as the Web's most wanted, fronting Premiere Magazine's Top Ten list of the Internet's biggest stars for her cool roles and edgy talent. Her popularity recently reached new heights after she won a Best Suppor-ting Actress Oscar for her turn as a troubled young woman in Girl, Interrupted. "I'm so in love with my brother right now," she said in her acceptance speech, setting off frenzied media speculation about a possible incestuous affair. Jolie will appear in a number of upcoming films, including Dancing in the Dark, Original Sin, and Beyond Borders. The buzz on her next movie, Tomb Raider (based on the enormously popular computer game), is predicting a 2001 blockbuster and an electrifying performance by Jolie as cybersex symbol Lara Croft. Author Kathleen Tracy takes a look at Jolie's early years, including her childhood growing up as Jon Voight's daughter, her crush on Dr. Spock, and how she once dreamed of becoming a funeral director. The book traces Jolie's meteoric rise to fame fueled by the actress's eccentric behaviour and a reputation for being bold and slightly nuts that fans find endearing.
I hate to say this, but I have to agree with the other reviewers about this book. I read the reviews, but still bought the book. I was hoping that maybe someone would see the REAL Angelina Jolie, and write on that. I guess that's why this isn't an autobiography. It was a rehashing of articles from magazines, which may or may not be true. I'm so sick of hearing about knives, tatoos, her relationship with her brother,-all taken out of context. If anyone ever treated her with the respect she deserves, we might get the full story. The closest I've seen is when she was on Larry King. She seems to be a loyal, honest, monogomous person. I guess that would be too boring to print, or about her being a U.N. Goodwill Ambassador. I hope one day that Angelina Jolie will write her own book. If it's anything like the journals I've read that she wrote while she was in Africa, it will make for more interesting reading than this book. The only new thing I read was about her father, but the book wasn't supposed to be on him. There was too much focus on other people and places, instead of on Angelina Jolie. -- M. Angelina Jolie: Angel in Disguise (Star Biographies)
The book is a short read, 144 pages. It has a nice assortment of black and white photos, no color photos except the front and back covers. If you have been following Angelina for some time now, you'll already have seen most of these photos. Most of the photos are either screen shots and promotions, or from various award ceremonies. As a long time fan of Angelina, I was surprised to see that this book had a good bit of information on her that I didn't already know. There's a lot of quotes from magazines. The author breaks down most of Angelina's movies, and I do think he spends a tad too much time describing the other actors in these movies. Either way, it is a cheap book and a nice addition to a fan's collection, also a great read for the brand new fan. I recommend! -- Angelina's #1 Fan (NC)
This biography on Angelina Jolie was very well written and informative. The book included tons of fun facts about her, and had alot of great pictures. I enjoyed the book very much and would absolutely recommend it. If you're a Jolie fan, this book is for you. I also recommend Notes from My Travels by Angelina. That book was very touching and inspirational. I highly recommend both books. -- Ms. Melissa Goldsberry "Colin Fan" (Boston, MA)
