My Squidoo Lenses That Shimmer With Angel Dust
The Angels of Squidoo work tremendously hard to keep Squidoo the amazing place that it is. I didn't know what a Squid Angel was when I first stopped by here, but before long some of my lenses were blessed by these kindly powers who keep a careful watch over things.
Getting an angel blessing means getting a (temporary) lensrank boost. But it also means so much more than that. It means that you are doing things right. Your lenses have a certain something that made your readers pause for thought or perhaps gave them a smile. It might be a lens that looks good, or one that is packed with useful information, or one that is entertaining. Whatever it is, someone appreciated it and the angel blessing is their way of letting you know that yours is the kind of lens that Squidoo wants more of!
An angel blessing from a Squid Angel is one of the most encouraging things that can happen to a new lensmaster, and can spur us on to keep on building new lenses and to improve those that we already have.
I have been honoured to have been visited by many Angels and wanted to thank them for taking the time to support me so much in my first year on Squidoo!

This was my first lens and the one that started me on my Squidoo journey. Blessed by pkmcr who has some wonderful genealogy lenses of his own. I love the fact that Squidoo is about cooperation, not competition! One of my earliest supporters on Squidoo, KathyMcGraw, also came by with a blessing once she gained angel wings, followed by the lovely D-Artist.

This early lens of mine had a Giant Squid Awards 2009 nomination... but no angel blessing. Then these three lovely angels flew in at the very end of December and I got a triple blessing! In 2010 another 5 left a glitter of angel dust and I got a purple star too.
4. Use Convict Records To Trace Your Ancestor Online
Descended from a Criminal?
This was a very niche lens and although I put a lot into it, you never know with these if anyone else will get anything from it. But I had found it exciting learning about my own ancestor's story as a convict transported to Tasmania. Needless to say I was delighted to be blessed by these lovely angels. Prosperity66 was also kind enough to nominate this one for a purple star!

Celebrating a beautiful land
My first shopping lens. I have learnt a lot more about shopping lenses since I made this one and will spend some time on it, but at the time that I created it my aim was to make it about Scotland as much as about the products. I got a thumbs up from 3 passing angels so I think I succeeded!

A new lensmaster's tribute
This was the first challenge when I joined the Ning group for new lensmasters: Fresh Wonders. We had to make a tribute to include at least 3 Angels and 3 Greeters. I was still finding my way around and didn't even know what a Greeter was at that stage! However, I didn't have to dig deep to find a selection of great lensmasters to thank.

The Giant Challenge!
This diary of my progress on Squidoo was the suggestion of a_willow on Fresh Wonders. She said it would be interesting to look back on. She was right! I started it at the end of my first month on Squidoo, with a handful of lenses. It soon grew as I became involved in the Giant Squid Challenge and so began my race to 50 lenses.

Ride like a girl!
This 'Giants and their Hobbies' challenge was to combine a how-to with a 'top-10' style list... plus to include a book review! It seemed like a tall order at first but was a fun challenge. This was written on a happy Sunday morning. It took me a while to figure out that it's not the big events or possessions that make life worth living. It's the small things. 25. Hogmanay - Celebrating New Year's Eve in Scotland
The Scots know how to throw a party!
The New Year is a big occasion in many countries, but for Scotland it seems to be particularly special. The Scots word 'Hogmanay' refers to New Year's Even and is a time when many of Scotland's towns and cities hold street parties with live music and other festivities, followed by fireworks at midnight. A couple of Squid Angels stopped by to learn more and left some angel dust.

I made it as the 2009 angels were retiring from their tour of duty, as a way to say thank you (and of course to showcase my own angel-blessed work!). But some of them caught me red-handed and sneaked in with a final blessing. And then the new angels arrived and looked in here! I love the Alps and I especially love Zermatt. In this lens I shared some mountain walks I had taken. - Thank you so very much, Paige. I don't know what I did to get such sweet comments today but I treasure each one of them, just as I treasure those of you who have made this such a great place to be with your talent and kind hearts.
Of course, all these compliments make the pear blush.... So glad my little crochet fruit spreads some happiness. I know some don't like it but fortunately there are a lot more who do so it looks like it's here to stay!

- LOL, thank you, dear Dom! I must admit, when I look through this lens I think I have been lucky indeed to have had so many Squid Angels take the time to stop by over half my lenses, given how few there are on such a large site.
But what a kind thing to say and I very much appreciate the compliment.
