Shark designs

Sharks are a type of fish with a full cartilaginous skeleton and a highly streamlined body. Sharks have a covering of dermal denticles that protect their skin from damage and parasites. They have several sets of replaceable teeth. Sharks range in size from the small "dwarf lanternshark" a deep sea species of only 17 centimetres in length, to the whale shark the largest fish, which grows to a length of approximately 12 metres. The maximum lifespan of a shark varies from species to species. Most sharks live for 20 to 30 years. Sharks are found all around the globe from the north to the south in all seas, they generally do not live in freshwater except for a few exceptions like the bull shark, which can swim both in seawater and freshwater. Sharks are common down to depths of 2,000 metres, and some live even deeper.

Tiger designs

The tiger is native to much of eastern and southern Asia. Reaching up to 4 metres in total length and weighing up to 300 kilograms. Aside from their great bulk and power, their most recognizable feature is the pattern of dark vertical stripes that overlays near-white to reddish-orange fur, with lighter underparts. MMost tigers have over 100 stripes. The largest subspecies of tiger is the Siberian tiger. Unlike other cats, which tend to avoid water, tigers actively seek it out. During the extreme heat of the day, they are often to be found cooling off in pools.

The white tiger is not a separate sub-species, but only a colour variation. They can only occur when both parents carry the rare gene found in white tigers. This gene has been calculated to occur in only one in every 10,000 births. All white tiger are at least part Bengal. They are distinct not only because of their white hue; they also have blue eyes and pink noses

The dog is a domesticated subspecies of the gray wolf. The domestic dog has been one of the most widely kept working and companion animals in human history. The domestication of the gray wolf took place in a handful of events roughly 15,000 years ago in central Asia. The dog quickly became ubiquitous across culture in all parts of the world, and was extremely valuable to early human settlements. Dogs have lived and worked with humans in so many roles that they have earned the unique nickname, "man's best friend". Currently, there are estimated to be 400 million dogs in the world.

The cat, also known as the domestic cat or house cat is valued by humans for its companionship and its ability to hunt unwanted household pests. They are known to hunt over 1,000 species for food. Cats use a variety of vocalizations and types of body language for communication, including meowing, purring, hissing, growling, squeaking, chirping, clicking, and grunting. They typically weigh between 2.5 and 7 kg. Some breeds, such as the Maine Coon, can exceed 11.3 kilograms. Cats may be the most popular pet in the world, with over 600 million in homes all over the world.

Penguins are a group of aquatic, flightless birds living almost exclusively in the Southern Hemisphere. Although all penguin species are native to the southern hemisphere, they are not found only in cold climates, such as Antarctica. In fact, only a few species of penguin live so far south. Several species are found in the temperate zone, and one species, the Galápagos Penguin, lives near the equator. The largest living species is the Emperor Penguin. Adults average about 1.1 m tall and weigh 35 kg or more. The smallest penguin species is the Little Blue Penguin, which stands around 40 cm tall and weighs 1 kg. Most penguins feed on krill, fish, squid, and other forms of sealife caught while swimming underwater. They spend about half of their life on land and half in the oceans.

Elephants are large land mammals. There are three living species: the African Bush Elephant, the African Forest Elephant and the Asian Elephant (also known as the Indian Elephant).They typically live for 50 to 70 years, but the oldest recorded elephant lived for 82 years. The largest elephant ever recorded weighed about 12,000 kilograms with a shoulder height of 4.2 metres.

Gorillas are the largest of the living primates. They are ground-dwelling herbivores that inhabit the forests of Africa. The lifespan of Gorillas is between 30-50 years. Gorillas move around by knuckle-walking. Adult males range in height from 165-175 cm and in weight from 140-204.5 kg. Adult females are often half the size of a silverback, averaging about 140 cm tall and 100 kg. Occasionally, a silverback of over 183 cm and 225 kg has been recorded in the wild. A silverback is an adult male gorilla, typically more than 12 years of age and named for the distinctive patch of silver hair on his back. The DNA of gorillas is 98%-99% identical to that of a human, and they are the next closest living relatives to humans after the two chimpanzee species.

Dolphins are marine mammals that are closely related to whales and porpoises. There are almost forty species of dolphins. Dolphins vary in size from 1.2 m and 40 kg (Maui's Dolphin), up to 9.5 m and 10 tonnes (the Orca or Killer Whale). They are found worldwide, mostly in the shallower seas of the continental shelves, and are carnivores, mostly eating fish and squid. Dolphins are considered to be amongst the most intelligent of animals and their often friendly appearance and seemingly playful attitude have made them popular in human culture and for animal-assisted therapy for psychological problems and developmental disabilities.

A spider is an invertebrate animal that produces silk, has eight legs and no wings.All other known species are predators, mostly preying on insects and on other spiders, although a few large species also take birds and lizards. Spiders use a wide range of strategies to capture prey: trapping it in sticky webs, lassoing it with sticky bolas, mimicking the prey to avoid detection, or running it down.

The giraffe is an African even-toed ungulate mammal, the tallest of all land-living animal species, and the largest ruminant. It is covered in large, irregular patches of yellow to black fur separated by white, off-white, or dark yellowish brown background. The average mass for an adult male giraffe is 1,191 kilograms while the average mass for an adult female is 828 kilograms. It is approximately 4.3 metres to 5.2 metres tall, although the tallest male recorded stood almost 6 metres.

The giraffe is related to deer and cattle, but is placed in a separate family, the Giraffidae, consisting of only the giraffe and its closest relative, the okapi. Its range extends from Chad in Central Africa to South Africa.

Giraffes usually inhabit savannas, grasslands, or open woodlands. However, when food is scarce they will venture into areas with denser vegetation. They prefer areas with plenty of acacia growth. They will drink large quantities of water when available which enables them to live for extended periods in dry, arid areas.

Turtle designs

Turtles are reptiles. Most of their body is shielded by a special bony or cartilaginous shell developed from their ribs. The earliest known turtles date from 215 million years ago, making turtles one of the oldest reptile groups and a more ancient group than lizards and snakes. About 300 species are alive today, and some are highly endangered.

Most turtles that spend most of their life on land have their eyes looking down at objects in front of them. Some aquatic turtles, such as snapping turtles and soft-shelled turtles, have eyes closer to the top of the head. These species of turtles can hide from predators in shallow water where they lie entirely submerged except for their eyes and nostrils. Sea turtles possess glands near their eyes that produce salty tears that rid their body of excess salt taken in from the water they drink.

The upper shell of the turtle is called the carapace. The lower shell that encases the belly is called the plastron. The carapace and plastron are joined together on the turtle's sides by bony structures called bridges. The inner layer of a turtle's shell is made up of about 60 bones that includes portions of the backbone and the ribs, meaning the turtle cannot crawl out of its shell. In most turtles, the outer layer of the shell is covered by horny scales called scutes that are part of its outer skin, or epidermis.

The horse is a hoofed (ungulate) mammal, a subspecies of one of seven extant species of the family Equidae. The horse has evolved over the past 45 to 55 million years from a small multi-toed creature into the large, single-toed animal of today. Humans began to domesticate horses around 4000 BC, and their domestication is believed to have been widespread by 3000 BC.Horses and humans interact in many ways, not only in a wide variety of sport competitions and non-competitive recreational pursuits, but also in working activities including police work, agriculture, entertainment, assisted learning and therapy.

Horse breeds are loosely divided into three categories based on general temperament: Hot bloods, cold bloods and warm bloods.

Many products are derived from horses, including meat, milk, hide, hair, bone, and pharmaceuticals extracted from the urine of pregnant mares. Humans provide domesticated horses with food, water and shelter, as well as attention from specialists such as veterinarians and farriers.

The Owls are the order Strigiformes, comprising 200 extant birds of prey, species. Most are solitary, and nocturnal, with some exceptions. Owls hunt mostly small mammals, insects, and other birds, though a few species specialize in hunting fish. They are found in all regions of the Earth except Antarctica, most of Greenland, and some remote islands. Though owls are typically solitary, the literary collective noun for a group of owls is a parliament.

Living owls are divided into two families: the typical owls, Strigidae; and the barn-owls, Tytonidae.

Owls have large forward-facing eyes and ear-holes, a hawk-like beak, a flat face, and usually a conspicuous circle of feathers -- a facial disc -- around each eye . Owls are far-sighted, and are unable to see anything clearly within a few inches of their eyes. Caught prey can be felt by owls with the use of filoplumes, which are small hair-like feathers on the beak and feet that act as "feelers". Their far vision, particularly in low light, is exceptionally good. Contrary to popular myth, owls cannot turn their heads completely backwards. They can turn their head 135 degrees in either direction; they can thus look behind their own shoulders, with a total 270 degree field of view.

Rabbits are small mammals, found in several parts of the world. Rabbits live in groups, and the best known species, the European rabbit lives in underground burrows, or rabbit holes. Meadows, woods, forests, thickets, and grasslands are areas in which rabbits live. They also inhabit deserts and wetlands. More than half the world's rabbit population resides in North America. They also live in Europe, India, Sumatra, Japan, and parts of Africa. The European rabbit has been introduced to many places around the world.

The rabbit's long ears, which can be more than 10 cm long, are probably an adaptation for detecting predators. They have large, powerful hind legs. Each foot has five toes, with one greatly reduced in size. They are digitigrade animals. They move around on the tips of their toes. Wild rabbits do not differ much in their body proportions or stance, with full, egg-shaped bodies. Their size can range anywhere from 20 cm in length and 0.4 kg in weight to 50 cm and more than 2 kg. The fur is most commonly long and soft, with colors such as shades of brown, gray, and buff. The tail is a little plume of brownish fur.
